“Clean and friendly”

The hotel staff were friendly and the hotel is very well maintained. The bathroom is a tight squeeze. It is worth paying the extra for the buffet style breakfast. There is plenty of parking but you will need to drive into York or catch the bus. One tip is to catch the bus in and if you book yourself onto the the York sight seeing tour hop off at the racecourse and walk back to the hotel.

Only stayed for 1 night, room wasn't ready when we arrived so had to wait, asked staff about getting into york but ended up taking the car, we had the evening meal at the restaurant, service was slow and food was nothing special. Left without having breakfast, but on checking out found we were over charged by £40, beware !!!!

I recently stayed at The Holiday Inn on Tadcaster Road, York for a friend's wedding. It is situated on the outskirts of York but there is a bus service into city centre. This hotel was absolutely lovely - warm, welcoming and very good value. Staff were most efficient and the room I had was large with a pleasant view of the garden. The buffet breakfast was superb; I was spoilt for choice amongst the wide selection of healthy options including a 'Make your own Pancake machine'
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit York. You will not be disappointed.

went down to visit our grandson and from the moment we arrived were made to feel at home. we booked 2 rooms which were first class. lovely big televisions , comfy beds nice and warm. toilets could have been bigger but if you go one at a time its ok plenty room for grandson owen with his camp bed and a big couch to sit on. the meals were excellent, such a great choice for a holiday inn, the best i have been in apart from the bloomsbury, kings cross . london . service was super meal times and breakfast always with a smile to get you in the mood for the day ahead which is so important.reception and staff were always there if you asked advice on where to go in the city with vouchers on hand. one tip ; leave the car and use the bus ,its more convenient and adds to the fun. only 1 minus could you heat the wii room ps thats the room for the kids, thanks

Room Tip: join priority club rewards club and get that little bit extra.ps the sparkling wine was champagne s...

Stayed here for 2 nights on a Superbreak mystery hotel break. We paid £125 for 2 nights for 2 adults and 1 teenager and this included the fabulous breakfast. Our room was clean and quiet with very comfy bed. We are regular walkers so we walked in and back from York, it was quite painless. A special mention to Katie in the bar who was extremely nice to us after arriving very late after the restaurant was closed, she was very cheery in organizing us some last minute food. In comparison the girl who checked us in was the complete opposite, not even telling us what time breakfast was. Overall it was a very good stay.

Found this hotel to be very good on both service and cleanliness,on the outskirts of York but on a regular bus route into the city, two pubs close by if you dont wat to eat and drink in the hotel as it is on the expensive side,as are most hotels!

Stayed two nights last week, free parking at hotel & £6 taxi fare into town which is cheaper than city car park fees or 30 mins walk. Family room small but functional, incl safe & fridge. All cleaned daily. Breakfast Buffett with standard cooked choices, croissant & pastry choices plus pancake machine. Front of house staff friendly, provided money off vouchers for local attractions. Would stay there again.
