Not as quaint as the shambles, but possesses the same olde worlde charm but with more room to walk. Stonegate has some really great shops that are full of wonderful little nik-naks plus establishments with 'usual' and unusual alcohol. Evil eye lounge is a shop which sells a good assortment of alcohol, and just through the shop, is a restaurant area and upstairs has a bar. There is also the house of trembling Madness which has a huge selection of beer, and spirits (also a large stock of minatures), it is also a pub, but didn't get to go into this part. The Armoury, has some lovely heather jewellery, some amazing ornaments not to mention swords. We also like going in 35 Stonegate, mainly for the supernatural and paranormal bits and bobs and of course a walk round the house (The lady who runs it is very friendly).

Not very long but worth spending time visiting. Still has an old feel to it. Shops and coffee bars can be expensive. For food and drink better to go to Little Stonegate or turn right into Petegate then right into Grape lane. Here you will find a good selection of eating places.

I love anything that is in cobblestones and when it evokes times of the past. Check this place to see how things were done before and send you to a trip down memory lane - literally!
