“Glorious Ruin”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

This wonderful ruin in the town of York stands proudly for all to see. This abbey is so picturesque amongst the green grass. A free attraction in the museum gardens which are beautiful themselves. If you are in the township of York well worth a wonder through just down the road from the Tourist Information Centre.

“Nice abbey ruins”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Very nice abbey ruins in the heart of York! You find it in the Museum Gardens and the entry is free. If you are visiting York, don't miss it but, if you can, for a more stunning experience, visit Fountain Abbey, Rievalux Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Kirkstall Abbey (free entry) and Whitby Abbey (all in West and North Yorkshire)

“Gorgeous ruins”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

It's not often that you can wander through such atmospheric remains in the middle of a city. The surrounding park only adds to the ambiance.

“Splendid ruins are a good backdrop for a perfect picnic”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Splendid architecture (although ruins) in delightful garden setting alongside the Yorkshire Museum. Excellent spot for picnics in good weather. Just around the corner are Roman remains to explore, including an old Roman latrine!

“Specatular”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Set next to the beautiful museum gardens these remains are truly specatular. You can imagine as you walk round as how the Abbey may have looked all those years ago.
