This house and grounds is a must see whatever time of year it is. Nice courtyard cafe but they are VERY slow! Garden centre is also with a look.

Great playground for the kids. Beautiful house for the wife. Made a nice relaxed quiet day for Dad. Also the gardens are very well laid out with a nice circular route to walk.

“A Perfect Way to Spend a Day.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Fans of Evelyn Waugh and the two productions of Brideshead will already be familiar with this locale. More restrained than Blenheim, at least architecturally, and seemingly owing something to those chateau in the Loire Valley, France, this is another of those beautifully maintained and preserved gems that are so generously dotted around the countryside of GB. Costly to maintain they might be, and most certainly reflective of another age, they are great treasure houses that afford us unique and special glimpses of a magnificent past. Highly recommended for anyone interested in English history, English gardens, art, and architecture. And - a fine bookshop and great food.
