I've visited lots of hotels for work and this was so refreshing due to the lovely friendly 'home' atmosphere and gorgeous clean room. Breakfast was great with locally sourced cooked breakfast as well as fresh fruit and cereals. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the Ashberry B&B for 2 nights while attending York races. The location for either visiting the race course or the city is perfect.

The quality of the breakfast was wonderful, along with the many choices that we on offer, jams, honey, preserve, cereals, fresh fruit and fruit salads. The hot choices were also local and tasty. The owners were wonderful and organised free on street parking for our stay too.

The room we stayed in was lovely, it looked and felt spotless with excellent quality furnishings.

This really is a first class establishment. We will deffinately be booking again.

Simply perfection! Steve and Sara are super friendly. The room with en-suite was spotless! Breakfast is really good with wide choice of cooked and fresh options. The deco is warm. Perfect location,10 mins walk from city centre. You can not ask for more! You need to book it, that's all!

I have just come back from an overnight stay at The Ashberry B&B in York with my wife and 2 teenage children , and it truly is an excellent place to stay . The owners Steve and Sara are very friendly and very helpful hosts only too willing to be of assistance to their guests . We stayed there on 15/08/2013 and really enjoyed our short stay there and was made to feel very welcome . Now to the hotel information. The location is suoerb a 5 to 10 stroll will take you to Micklegate and the walled entrance to the city and its many treasures. The room we stayed in was very clean ample toiletries supplied and of good quality. The bathroom had plenty of towels and the shower was really nice and modern . The beds were very comfortable and I had a good nights sleep which is not always possible when you sleep in a strange bed. The room was tastefully decorated and the linen looked pristine and in keeping with the room .The breakfast we had only served to enhance our stay . You could help yourself to as much cereal , fruit juice ,jams , and preserves as you wanted as well as the well presented fresh fruit dishes supplied oranges, grapefruit, peaches,as well as strawberries with blueberries. As well as this you also had a full English with your choice of egg style all of which was served with a friendly face and very well presented. All in all I could not fault The Ashberry and will definately stay there on my return to York . In closing I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to anybody looking for a nice place to stay close to York city centre and all it has to offer

This is a great B & B, very conveniently situated.... ten minutes walking distance from the railway station, city walls, river and racecourse. We received a lovely welcome from Sara and Steve, who gave us helpful information about restaurants, walks etc.
Our room was large, airy, stylish and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were good, with plenty of choice. The side garden provided the perfect sunny spot for a glass of wine.
It was our Ruby wedding while we were there, and it was a delightful surprise to discover roses and chocolates in our room....a very thoughtful touch!
We definitely recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: !st floor, corner room has two huge dual aspect bay windows.

We stayed four nights in The Ashberry so we could see York with all its attractions. Sara and Steve are great . I am sure she never stops working around the hotel and garden. Steve cooks the breakfast and does it perfectly using good local produce there are even fresh strawberries and blueberies available to have with your cereal. The bedroom is well decorated with a high ceiling and the ensuite shower etc are excellent. We can confidently recommend this small hotel.

Room Tip: we were on the first floor to go higher could be a struggle for less fit people

Steve and Sara are both lovely people and nothing was too much trouble.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
