Situated in a Victorian terraced street about five minutes walk from the city walls, this friendly B&B was ideal for our needs over the Christmas Market weekend of 26-28 Nov 2010.
We had room No1, a bit old fashioned, but cosy and if anything over cluttered with 'stuff'. The bed was fine, TV, coffee and tea making equipment, tissues, etc, all available. Neat (if a little dated) bathroom and toilet.
Our daughter and husband had room No 5, very well appointed with a lovely view (ours was a bit rough and roofy), modernised and more spacious than ours too. It was up three flights of stairs, ours only one.
The breakfasts were superb, well cooked and more than ample, even for extra hungry people. The usual cereals, yogurts, fruit and toast, etc hanging around while you had or waited for whatever cooked food you'd ordered.
Lots of helpful information, freely given by both the owners, brochures, leaflets and flyers in the hallway too. Car parking window passes included in the price helped with on-street parking and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. I am sure there are posher places to stay in and around York, but this suited us just fine and I would stay here again (and most likely will).
