Stayed at Wheatlands Lodge for a girly weekend. We were given a very friendly welcome by Tim who checked us in and offered us complementary tea & coffee. The hotel was very clean and homely. The beds were very comfortable and the room had everything in it that we needed. The location of Wheatlands was great , a 15 minute walk into town. Breakfast was lovely and the waiting staff were very attentive. We had a great weekend and Wheatlands Lodge was a brilliant place to stay. Would definately recommend this and will be staying again !!

We stayed here over the race meeting. This a good 3 star hotel with standard rooms and has an excellent bar with loads of atmosphere. The staff are always welcoming and extremely friendly. Whilst the breakfast could be a little more generous it is adequate and it does now include sausage. The evening meal whilst only a choice of 2 mains is good value for money. The rooms provide everything you need and whilst they could not be classed as luxurious include a good shower/tub with plenty of hot water. We always stay here for the race meeting and would not consider anywhere else.

It was £81 a night for a twin and you'd think for that you might get a comfortable bed, afew bathroom toiletries and a decent breakfast. No on all counts. The beds were really uncomfortable with plastic sheets the NHS would be proud of. No toiletries other than soap. Undrinkable instant coffee and a decidedly average breakfast served between 7.45-9am.

We arrived at Wheat lands Lodge Hotel on 20th September 2014, for a 4 day break. It was our second visit to the hotel, and I have to say that from now on we will always use the hotel in future. The staff are friendly and can not do enough for their guests, I don't know how they find time to accommodate every person with such patience and a smile. The meals were beautiful, and the whole package is fantastic value for money. I can't praise the Wheat lands enough and reccomend everyone visit this hotel, Thank you to all, Kate and Alex Smillie

Room Tip: Any room in this hotel is second to none

Tried to get a hotel in York for 1 night was a nightmare, then my wife rang the Wheatlands hotel and spoke to Fiona who could not have being more helpful, she checked to see if there had any rooms and came back with a yes for 1 night, my wife asked if there needed any payment and was told no just pay when you check out, we arrived on the Saturday at about 15.00, car park was full and no parking in front of the hotel, asked at reception and was told that i could park round the corner and not be charged. rooms where clean and comfortable, in the morning breakfast was excellent, with York centre only 15 minute walk away i would recommend this hotel, i will be using this hotel again.

5 of us travelled up to York (age range 77-11) and this was a great hotel to stay at. Tim and Fiona made us feel right at home and the special rate (GBP 49.50/person) for dinner, bed and breakfast was a great bargain (evening meals were great). The hotel is ideally located with the city wall less than 5 min walk away - the Laural & Hardy themed bar was well priced as well - would definitely stay here again next time up in York

The staff are probably the best we have encountered. Nothing was to much trouble. You always feel that you are number one. Excellent room, great ambience. All in all terrific. Loved the food, the service at the bar was superb. Location is actually spot on. We were sorry to leave such a lovely hotel run by people who respect their customers.
