Walking old streets and seeing old buildings - all under the shadow of the cathedral - the perfect experience for any traveler, but especially for history buffs.

Was absolutely heaving. Lots of empty shops and those that were there weren't selling anything that wouldn't appeal to Asian and American visitors. You have to wander through here as it's historic but I doubt you'll longer for long. Best to visit in the evening when it's raining it's almost empty then.

We stopped in a York on a tour with Image Tours. Loved The Shambles. Lots of neat stores, restaurants, pubs. There was also an open air market. Wish we could have stayed longer!

This used to be such a nice little street but it's turned into the worst kind of tourist trap. Still pretty to look at when it's quietened down but a lot of the shops are best avoided.
