Visited this attraction recently with my boyfriend and have to say it was funny and interesting and a little creepy. Discussing it at work with one of my colleagues, he told me he took his girlfriend here on the first date - perfect, she was scared and wanted to hold his hand in the dark - genius (tip there for any first daters!!!) I would say that it is rather dark and scary if you are easily scared, and a few older members of the tour got a little claustrophobic when we went into a crypt of mirrors - they left us there alone for quite a while.
The tour lasted about 1 - 1.5 hours, each area you had a different guide/actor. The actors were brilliant and funny, and they really got everyone in the tour involved - brilliant!
I got burned at the stake for being a witch (i'm sure my boyfriend didn't disagree!) Not going to tell you anything else - you should go and see for yourself!
Oh and look out for BOGOF offers - we got one from cereal, but nectar do them too.

Started off walking into the Dungeon thinking that we could use our 2 for 1 voucher code displayed on mobile phone, but we were told that it had to be printed off and was asked (no joke) "Have you got a printer?" - Bit of a bad start seeing as the voucher was valid, but they weren't prepared to accept it because it wasn't on a piece of paper.

The attraction itself was very good! Be prepared to be picked on (and print your voucher codes). The actors do really well and it's overall a good experience.

Dear Adam,

I am really sorry that we did not accept your voucher and depending on the offer we often have to retain them for audit purposes.

Usually within the T&Cs it asks the customer to print the offer however we are currently looking at a solution and failing that we will print them off here on site depending on how busy we are.

I hope that this has not put you off visiting the dungeon again.

A very surprising attraction and highly recommend it. After walking over a huge glass floor showing various stages in history which felt most odd, we were led to moving carriages and were totally impressed with the ride. We were taken through the history of York from when the Vikings invaded and onward with very good wax figures and well constructed houses and streets etc with running commentary giving a very amusing idea of what life was like. There was a special commentary for children and also if different languages. Afterwards there were displays of skeletons and various artefacts found and overall a very interesting experience. The only downside was the price expected to pay for a photo taken at the entrance, which we thought was far too much. We are sure that if the price was reduced, more people would have the picture.

Tour lasts a bit over an hour and we did it as part of our York day pass, which cost 38 pounds, and other attractions included. A little tacky in parts, the tour consists of a series of historic scenarios of life in the dungeons of York. Actors who lead the scenarios were mostly good, but towards the end we were hoping it would finish soon. Would probably not have chosen this if we had known, other attractions preferable for us. The Dick Turpin scenario wasn't very good at all.

I'm a teacher, and we took a large group of kids aged between 13-15. There are lots of dark rooms to walk through, and I was spooked out all the time due to not knowing what is going to happen. The kids were scared most of the time too, very funny.
All rooms are dark, and its terrifying when the actors jump out unexpectedly. The actors are fabulous and really get into the role. I was certainly scared as I am a big wimp.
Would definitely recommend.
