Our family of five could have spent an entire day at this museum, unfortunately we had a train to catch so had to make do with a half day. So much to see and do the staff were keen to share their knowledge and enrich the experience. We learnt a great deal and enjoyed every moment. Very affordable and a must do while in York.

This museum is not huge, so you can leisurely walk through it and enjoy all of the exhibits completely.

“love the old streets”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

I never fail to enjoy a visit to this museum. and it has recently just had some more exhibits opened in the victorian street. See Dick Turpins cell and visit the other old cells and listen to their stories about why they were there. Also your entrance fee lasts for the whole year.

“A right blast from the past!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We went here to escape the rain, and my what a delight we found it. Neither of us had been since childhood over 40years ago. It still gave me the feeling of awe. The street scene had a gent performing 'A Christmas Carol' by Dickens - very well done it was too! Santa was on hand for the little ones to delight at. The room of bygone ages had us both going 'We had one of those' or 'my Gran had that'. The tickets last for 12 months so you are able to go back and see bits you may have missed.
