Owner description: Step through 2,000 years of history with one visit to this house of dreams, where rooms are set up and furnished to mirror the grand styles from medieval times to the early 1900's.

My daughter (15) and I really enjoyed our visit to the Treasurer's House. The history of the owner and his vision of the house were fascinating, but what we really loved and you must do if you visit the house, was the haunted cellar. It was so cool listening to the story of the electrician and his experience with the roman soldiers down in that dark, damp space.

This is a little tucked away behind the Minster but worth hunting out (if it is raining and you have visited all the other inside places.) Small little garden which is great for a pinic. The house is quite small so it doesn't take too long to go round but there are some interesting antiques. It is reasonably child-friendly (small activity room) but you have to leave pushchairs and bulky bags behind (securely locked though.) As with Most NT properties there is usually a 'treasure hunt' type of activity for children. Cannot comment on value for money as we are NT members so get in free.

Thanks to the excellent, chatty guides in each room, this was an enjoyable visit and gave real insight into the times when the previous owner lived and converted the house for his own use.
I did have some difficulties with the stairs due to my hip replacement.
Great value in the cafe downstairs.

As National Trust members we felt we had to visit and it was very worth while - a fascinating small house - note particularly the floor boards - this sounds odd but they were grooved by hand to prevent people slipping - must have cost a fortune.
The cafe in the cellar is very good - delicious home made cakes so an important part of the visit. The garden is lovely to relax in and the staff very helpful.

A lovely house, with some fabulous artefacts to explore (don't miss Grandma in the dining room)! The gardens are also stunning, we enjoyed our picnic lunch on the lawn. The visit lasted about an our and we were pleased to have done it. Don't miss the cellar!!!!!
