A freebie with the National Trust. This is an ongoing project ( the new rooms previously a flat) but very interesting. A very inspiring home.

Like a Tardis, far more to see than we had expected. Very interesting history well presented in each room in the form of laminated sheets. The great Hall is beautiful as is the staircase.

I visited this as a member of the National Trust. It was fascinating and the guides were so well informed that it really brought the property to life. A very pleasant way of spending a couple of hours

I was in York with a group of 26 rambunctious friends. While they were nursing hangovers, I took off early and went to explore the city centre. Treasurer's House didn't open til 11am but was well worth the wait. I had a good look round the house (and seriously spooky garden!) which is stunning, particularly the Great Hall and Minsrtels' Gallery, before doing the Cellar Ghost Tour. Led by a funny, knowledgeable lady, this tour was very interesting - whether you're into ghost-hunting or not - and the chance to don a hard hat and rootle around in the depths of this very ancient building was a real treat. I followed this with a tour of the attics which was wonderful - I've never had the chance to caper about on a medieval roof before, fabulous view of the city and the untouched servants' quarters were fantastic and very atmospheric. I came to York to catch up with old friends and go dancing and drinking - I did all of that but was bewitched by the Treasurer's House - I spent 3 hours there, fantastic....
