This is a small sized Georgian house, with well furnished rooms. It is worth talking to the room guides as they have a wealth of history and stories to bring the place to life.

This attraction comprises a Georgian Townhouse, billed as "The finest Georgian town house in England" and I would say it lived up to that claim. The rooms on exhibit are well furnished with genuine items, and the staff were extremely well informed, and provided a lot of interesting information about each room, together with the histories of the families who lived there. Well worth a visit. One minor niggle was the fact that the tour brochure stated that there was a guided tour at 11:00, but on the day we visited there was some sort of local function, and the tour was not available that day, which was a little dissappointing. The entrance fee, however, was really very reasonable.

The Fairfax house is beautiful. They have done a nice job of restoring it to its condition during the time of Lady Fairfax. The docents do a wonderful job of not only telling the history but also of some of what it took to restore the house. Worth an hour or so to see this.
