What an amazing place this is, catering for all ages and nationalities. I spoke to several people from different countries, Australia, Japan, Germany and France and all were extremely impressed. Photographers have ideal places to use for close-ups. This surely can't be closed to the public due to lack of funding. Please encourage visitors to pay more for entry but PLEEEASE make sure this museum stays open.

Thank Janet F

Trains could be something that people instantly think of geeks and trainspotters. However the exhibits here are just nostalgic and show the potential future of the railways. Lots of things to see and do which makes the time flies by. I loved the old trains and carriages and I think that if the railways took a look at these, then potentially more people would respect the railways and respect the prices they demand.

Get yourself to this free (or with a small donation) attraction for a trip down memory lane.

My wife and i were recently in the yorkshire dales on holiday helmsley to be precise. we decided to visit the train museum not only because of our interest but also because in the light of the governments plans to close certain museums in the north so we thought we would give it our full support. now we had with us our little well behaved family pet dog 'it never crossed our minds that a dog would be banned from a place that housed massive trains
what a wasted journey . we were told to put the dog in the car and being a warm day that was pretty dumb advice .had the dog been a special needs dog she would of been allowed...but come on a dog is a dog is a dog.under the same control. so we went to the aero museum were dogs are allowed exept the cafe and gave our hard earned money to them . so mr + mrs railway people you want to take a good hard look at yourselfs
and wonder why your under threat of closure and you can refuse to turn custom away for a silly little rule when common sense should prevale
