Warmly welcomed at 9pm even though the bistro was bustling. A calm chilled hubbub of noise, a lovely atmosphere to walk into. I think we were lucky to get a table.
Coats taken, shown to the last remaining table. The menu has evolved and each dish on the small selective menu was tempting.
Each plate was divine. We each tasted each others dishes. Unanimous. We'd all have gladly eaten each others dishes (or had our own twice (that's NOT to say the portions aren't adequate, they certainly are, it's just the food is heavenly))
The starters set you up. The main course meats were succulent tender and full of flavour. The panna cotta is amazing.
3 courses, with wine. Such excellent value. No rush, a chilled atmosphere. We were the last in and there was no hurry to chase us out even though it was approaching midnight.
This is the BEST place to eat in York.
