“Generous Portions, Medieval Feel and Great Beer Selection”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

I really enjoyed this place.

The food's pricing was decent, but you receive generous portions.

There are stuffed animals all over the walls and old Medieval wooden beams in the ceiling, which adds a nice atmosphere that feels cozy as well as historic.

One of my favourite things about this place is the selection of beer. They almost always have things such as Tactical Nuclear Penguin and other specialties from Brew Dog on tap, as well as a variety of other good brews. In fact, the downstairs portion of the place is a cellar that sells a variety of wine, spirits, beer, ale, cider and other bottles of intoxicating deliciousness. Any craft beer aficionado will appreciate this place.

I must forewarn you, though. I have yet to go to this place when it is NOT crowded.

“fabulous atmosphere”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

This is a lovely pub above a store that sells many beers, ciders etc from around the world. The food platters and the meals looked amazing but we had just eaten, the atmosphere was cool and chilled BUT don't expect to just walk in, it gets busy at all times of the day and due to limited space entrance is restricted BUT keep trying like we did as it is worth the wait.

“Refuelling in York”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

Found this place via tripadvisor and found it lived up to its billing. A quirky venue with plenty of interesting beers and ciders plus reasonably priced, freshly prepared food. A good refuelling stop when sight-seening in York.

“Great selection of beer”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

Stumbled across this pub/eatery cum off license whilst visiting York, if you like different beers from all around the world this is the place for you. They have an enormous selection of beers on sale that you can sample in the pub upstairs for an additional fee of 125 pence on top of the bottle price in the off license downstairs. They also have some nice reasonably priced Belgian beer on tap. The decor is rustic with stuffed animal heads lining the walls and there is a simple but tasty menu for food if you want it. Well worth a visit but beware more than three or four of those high alcohol percentage beers and you understand the name of the place....trembling madness.. Delirium tremens indeed!!!

“All in all very good.”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

This quirky little bar/restaurant has plenty of character and the food isn't bad either, if you are looking for fine dining then this won't be the place for you but if you are looking for good hearty food then this ticks the boxes.
