York Marriott Hotel
Ranked #36 of 47 Hotels in York

We were disappointed by our visit to this hotel. Whilst the staff were lovely and the restaurant and reception area were nice, the room was in need of refurbishment as was the swimming pool area. Disappointing for a Marriott branded hotel.

Book a one night stay to go and see York with the family. Even though they weren't expecting a family of three the receptionist was extremely polite and understanding and gave us a great room! The only negative was the bed, far too soft for us! Used the pool (a tad bit small) and also had dinner (good) and breakfast (regular). Would recommend!

on arrival I was offered the last room available (I'm guessing they were full with the wedding the had on) being a twin room, it was £109 room only which I though was a bit steep but when we got to the room after pushing the beds together it was actually ok and I was pleasantly surprised, the room was bright and modern, very clean and had quite homely furnishings like cushions and a nice comfortable chair.
The tea and coffee making facilities were pretty good with some decent quality biscuits.
We didn't eat either dinner or breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on the food but the restaurants looked nice.
The leisure club is well worth a visit, nice pool, sauna and large jacuzzi, I think that alone would make me stay here again!

We have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel, after a two hour struggle with other companies this company were happy to accomodate us. with three children, one having Autism and learning difficulties two rooms were out of the question. York Marriott accomodated us without me having to get upset and go into detail. Sophie was the person I spoke to and sorted it all out for me. From then on everything was hassle free, loads of free parking, easy check in process, lovely staff throughout this hotel i noticed. The swimming pool was great, not huge but ample unless you're an olympic swimmer! family changing, large clean room, nice breakfast. Hotel is in a great location overlooking the racecourse and close to city centre and york outlet village. All in all a lovely stay was had by us!!! see you again!! and thankyou x

We were in York for a wedding and decided to leave the car at the hotel and take a taxi into town which cost £5. Because the hotel had been full the previous night we were unable to check in prior to 3pm which was obviously too late for a 2pm wedding. The hotel/ staff were however brilliant. They had no issue with us leaving the car, even though the car park was getting rather full, they organised our taxi and ensued that we had the information to arrange the return taxi. We anticipated a midnight return and that proved to be the case but the staff on reception were very swift and efficient in checking us in.

We had what i believe was called a delux double room but to be honest the only difference I could see that made it any more delux than many other rooms I have stayed in was the size of the room, it was huge. For some reason there was a double pull out bed opened and made up at the foot of the double bed for some reason. Perhaps they felt that my wife and I would be arguing after a day at a family wedding. The pull out bed did spoil the look of the room but because of the size of the room it did not get in the way.

Breakfast was excellent in all aspects including service, choice and quality so that element would get top marks from me. The staff throughout we're very good indeed and overall I think we will be staying here again but next time for a little longer so that we can sample some of the hotels other facilities.

Stayed here for my 40th birthday so booked a Grandstand room, with a king size bed, the usual toiletries, shower robe and slippers on a high floor for a better view which overlooks the racecourse there are only 16 of these rooms with a balcony or terrace on the lower floor. We had room service for breakfast at a small extra charge of £3.00 per day and on the first day we got up early enough to see the most wonderful sunrise. The place was spotless and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The car park at the hotel is free unlike some other hotels in York. It is a good 25 minute walk to York so we decided to drive in and park in the town centre, we had no trouble finding parking. The hotel has a pool, gym and spa with a separate beauty therapy room which are all to a high standard. We will stay in this hotel and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Grandstand, costs extra, comes with a balcony or terrace, sunrise view for early birds and budding...

Just stayed at the Marriott Hotel,York to celebrate our wedding anniversary. An excellent hotel with very polite staff to welcome you. A beautiful room (The Phillip Morris room 208) overlooking the racecourse. Breakfast was excellent with so much choice, lovely fresh foods and lots of staff on hand. We booked the hotel through a company called Otel.com - this was a mistake and the company should be avoided. I phoned the Marriot the night before our stay to confirm everything and they advised me the booking had been cancelled! This was through no fault of the Marriott and they were so helpful and reassuring. It was obviously a typical Otel.com prank. I have since read their reviews and would never use them again. We will definately be returning to the Marriott and will ensure we book direct with the hotel in future. Thank you to everyone at the Marriott, definately a 1st class hotel. A bus stop just over the road runs buses every 10 minutes (bus no 4) which takes you into the city in less than 5 mins.

Room Tip: The Phillip Morris room (no. 208) was lovely. really spacious and overlooking the racecourse
