“A superb stay...five stars!”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

This has to be one of the best stays I have ever had in a B&B and loved every minute of my stay.

The hosts are wonderfully warm, friendly and really easy to get on with and make you feel very welcome. The owners are great cooks so breakfast was made with eggs from the farm and homemade bread with local sourced meats and butter. There is an option to have an evening meal cooked for you with locally sauced produce or produce direct from the gardens.

I stayed here for two nights in April for a visit in York and surrounding area. I did not want to stay in York as I wanted to have a bit of peace after the hustle and bustle of being in the city.

The location of the farm is stunning, rolling fields and wonderful views with horses, ducks, geese and peacocks roaming around the farm. It was wonderful to see a wood pecker out of the window whilst having breakfast.

It is very quiet and peaceful at night due to its location which is only a 20 min drive from the Grimston Bar Park and Ride but make sure you use a sat nav to get there; the post code will take you right to the front foor. The nearest pub is the Fleece Inn which is a 30 min walk or an easy drive.

There are some short walks directly from the farm and nice to have either a morning or evening stroll in the surrounding countryside.

I am definitely going to return again and would highly recommend. This is how a B&B or hotel experiences should be.

Stayed here last summer as we had a christening to attend to in York.
It’s a little out the way but well worth it. A perfect setting in the rural countryside, especially if you like corn fields and horses.
I asked if we could have some champagne ready in our room as a surprise for my girlfriend and they happily obliged (even though I think they went out of their way to get it for us).
We also went for a little walk around their premises and I would encourage anyone else who stays here to do this also.
A good hearty English breakfast in the morning and a very clean room and bathroom that we used.
Next time we need to stay in York we will go back here.

Room Tip: They are all very stereotypical big farmhouse rooms. All are good.

What a great place to stay, very peaceful with great views of the surrounding countryside and a breakfast that sets you up for the day. It's very handy for places such as York and even the East Coast. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a few days while working just a few miles away and it certainly beats the usual hotel scene. I stayed in the large upstairs family room where the bed was comfortable, the room spacious with large windows overlooking the open fields and the en-suite came with a large shower and ample towels. Free fast wi-fi was available everywhere. An evening meal is well recommended if you give a days notice. The quality of ingredients, presentation and flavours just have to be sampled. Dessert is a must too. Breakfast is a plate of Yorkshires finest that should keep you gong all day. Take a change from the usual faceless hotel and sample the charm and hosspitality on offer here. I'll certainly stay here again when next nearby.

This beautiful old farmhouse really is a hidden gem. It has real charm and the finest full English breakfast you're ever likely to try.

Every item of the ample breakfast was carefully selected and perfectly cooked. From the exquisitely tasty sausages & bacon to the thick slices of (organic bread) toast, we loved it!

I highly recommend an early morning walk around the woods and stables to see the wildlife, chickens, geese, dogs & horses being taken out for first exercise. Beautiful.

Stayed here as family of 4. Beautiful farmhouse in a stunning location. Used as a base for a great few days in York and Scarborough. Views to die for from the first floor family room. Very laid back couple run it and let you roam free around their lovely property surrounded by horses, dogs, chickens and pheasants. Breakfast was to die for.
