Just had two nights at this Premier Inn. We were a bit worried about distance from York centre so asked one of the waitresses at breakfast about buses. She was very helpful and told us where bus stop was (just on main road outside hotel). We decided to walk in the end and it was fine. Took about 25 minutes, but was easy.

Breakfast was great, and service was good. We didn't have any problems with our room, but I am sure if we had the staff would have been helpful.

The pub next door serves lovely food, and the staff in there are very helpful too.

We will definitely be booking here again,

just had a lovely 2 night stay, the attention to detail was amazing. special thanks to Dawn head of housekeeping who after noticing a bottle of wine in our room kindly left us a bucket of ice which was much appreciated. cannot wait to stay at this premier inn again, cannot praise everything highly enough, thanks again

2 nights booked for 16th and 17th Feb. Price for two nights - £187 not flexible excluding breakfast.

How you review this room depends on what you have paid. If you get it for £29 as advertised at times this is a great place to stay. If you pay what we did you have been ripped off. Rooms worth no more than £40 a night, £48 if you include breakfast.

Staff were pleasant and friendly and rooms were clean and a decent size with a good location to york but that is as far as I would go.

We stayed in room 204. This room has a major flaw...thin walls and situated next to the main staircase which has a security door on it which could possibly rank as one of the loudest banging doors of all times in a hotel. Every person who came up the stairs you could hear VERY clearly at all times ... 2am then 4am hacked me off in particular. This was so loud it persistently woke me up. The banging of the door after the ascent up the stairs topped it off...NOT impressed. This was horrendous in the daytime as lots of people were coming snd going...evening too.You could hear clearly the people in the room next to us.

Little things that would be good is a dressing room table mirror where you can sit and style your hair.

On mentioning to Reception about the noisy nights sleep the response was that it would be quiter tonight as it was sunday and less busy...brilliant...not. Admittedly not as frequent but still noisy and another restless nights sleep. The unusually hard matress (a surprise as this is normally better at premier inns) and noise made for another bad nights sleep.

Complained in the morning. The receptionist asked whether we were in room 204 or 205 as they have problems with noise. She agreed to give a one night refund. I was cross that they knew these are problem rooms but rather than tell us or charge a lower price to reflect that they allocate the room and cross fingers that a complaint isnt made. I asked why we were placed in there and said depends on hotel bookings etc although how we still got that room I dont know as we booked a month beforehand.

So...moral of the story...only go if its cheap or stay in a local b&b for better value. If they put u in room 204 complain!!!

Just got back from a night away in york at this Premier Inn and couldn't fault it. From the friendly, helpful receptionist Abbie to the cleaniness of the room to the location..We were a bit concerned that we were going to be out of town but giving the £29 for the night we took the chance rather than pay £80ish for a b&b in town...So glad we did!!
The park and ride bus runs every 8-10 mins across the road 'Abbie on reception helped us out on where and when to get buses'. or she said a taxi would cost £6.50..The bus was £3.50 return into town. Having a long day around york we had a bus ride (10mins) back. We opted to eat in the pub next door the 'dormouse' kindly booked for us by Abbie. We had a nice well priced meal with good service. So all in all a good value stay in york will certainly be doing it again.

We stayed 3 nights Monday to Wednesday.

The staff were friendly, no problems there. However, the 2 rooms we booked were on the small side for a Premier Inn. We were disappointed that baths were not present, and had to put up with a shower. This is where the main problem arose.

In our room, the shower pressure was very low and virtually inoperative on the first night. I reported the defect, and the engineer visited on day 2 (he reported air in the system). Slight improvement, but shower was still barely a trickle. This did spoil our stay.

Breakfast was the usual Premier Inn offering. Some member of staff kept leaving one of the windows open, with the result that the eating area was like a fridge when we arrived each morning.

The hotel is a brisk 30 minutes walk to Bootham Bar. A taxi fare fare for 4 people to York was £6.50 (one way), compared with the expensive Park & Ride option of £3.50 per person return, so we tended to use a taxi to return each day. There is a Vue cinema about 1.5 miles away from the hotel, but we ended up using the small cinema in the City centre, which was only £6.00 per head on a Wednesday.

We didn't use the Dormouse pub, as the vegetarian options were very limited. Plenty of choices in York.

Room Tip: If you're in room 106, check the shower works!
