We have stayed at this hotel two years in a row over Christmas time, and would definitely return again.
Although this hotel isn't right in the centre of York, it is only a 5 minute drive along the road til you are right in the centre, at the York Minster end of York. There is a carpark just before you enter York on the right hand side which is around £11 to park for the whole day.
There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel where you can get a bus into town, although this takes a bit longer as it goes through some houses, and can be quite busy coming back if you are staying on a busy weekend.
The hotel rooms themselves are basic but a good size. Our rooms have only ever had showers but this is fine for us. There is a large carpark so we have never had any problems getting parked.
There is a restaurant/bar right next to the hotel which does nice food, although arriving on the Saturday morning we found it difficult to get booked at the time we wanted on the Saturday night so it might be a good idea to phone during the week and book a table before you arrive.
Overall we have always enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we return.
