My friend and I stayed here for a girly night out... We were aptly put in the "Boogie Woogie" suite which was set at the back of the hotel garden. It almost felt like we were away from everyone and had full use of the garden for sitting outside our room. The room had a lovely clean feel with an amazing shower.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Everything we experienced made our stay wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.. the breakfast was amazing and well worth the money. We would definitely recommend you stay here as only 5 mins in taxi from city centre. Fabulous!!

We booked to stay for one night for a family wedding. Food that was served was lovely and the bar staff very attentive and chatty. Room was nice but not so sure it is worth £120 per night; a few small things such as the room being cold and the finishing's looking a bit dated but only a small niggle. Breakfast was pleasant, the cold buffet had a nice selection and the choice of hot food was good too. The bacon was a little anaemic looking and could have done with longer but again its only a small quibble. Overall a nice stay. The biggest problem with this hotel is that it has a small car park and when this hotel is at full capacity for functions it can be difficult to get a space. Possibly introducing a few reserved spaces for guests that are willing to pay for the parking etc may be a good idea.

Lovely georgian hotel surrounded by spring gardens in a quiet village on the outskirts of York. All amenities easily accessible. Hotel staff very helpful and accomodating. Nothing too much trouble. Would recommend. But cant guarantee the weather!!!

I have stayed at this hotel twice now over the past 3 years, nothing has changed or improved since 2011. the reception area is welcoming, the staff couldn't do anymore for you. The breakfast was great with lots of options. The brerakfast room itself is gorgeous oak panelled floor, fresh flowers, quaint intimate dining. The lounge area is cosy where you can sit and have a drink. Lovely sofas, magazines, newspapers. Moving onto our room.....tired, dated and dull. Tiny little double bed, basic bath and shower. Off white towels have seen better days, old fashioned tv with limited channels. Ugly flowery bedspread. We stayed here because we had a fresh weekends voucher for one night in a unique hotel!! We originally wanted to stay in the Kilima Best Western, but 'conveniently' they aren't honouring the fresh weekends vouchers!! The proprietors of the Pavilion need to seriously update their bedrooms. We sat in the downstairs lounge and had a glass of wine, we counted 12 lamps on in that room!!!!!!! Won't rush back here. I also notice that one reviewer had a downstairs room that opened onto a patio area.....sounds great! shame we couldn't have had a nicer room!

Room Tip: perhaps go elsewhere!

Had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed lovely walks along the river to the city centre each day. The food was excellent and the evening meals in the Restaurant were delicious. I am a coeliac and have to be on a gluten-free diet which was catered for with ease - at breakfast though they could not find the gluten-free bread until our last morning which was quite surprising as it always appeared for my evening meal! This was not a problem as I always take gluten-free bread with me when I go away. All the staff were most helpful and friendly.

I could not have been happier with this hotel.
Pros: My room was on the ground floor - I would strongly suggest that if you enjoy gardens! - with a door that opened onto a small but comfortable patio/garden area, complete with resting bench. The food available in the hotel restaurant and bar area was stunning, the quality completely unexpected in an older hotel. From certain vantage points in the bar, you can see a wonderful old tree with a large hole in the center (from age, I'm certain) where some clever person has placed a toy owl. There are several garden areas, and it's good walking around as well. The front staff were tremendously helpful.
Cons: The breakfast is awful. Truly awful, and a huge let down after the wonderful lunches and dinners we'd enjoyed. Must be a different company or chef, because nothing about it was good - the sausage and bacon were not the same as we'd had the day before at other meals, the food choices were uninteresting and uninspired to say the least. Sad, because as noted, the dinner and lunch meals were excellent. Way beyond just good.
Also, two of our rooms (22, 23) had no Internet problems, but every other room couldn't get on line - a total of four. This was a serious problem for business.
The only other note I'll make is that the laundry service is not good. There is NO same day service available, no matter what time you get it in. The next morning service that promises to be there by X time does NOT get there then, and we were told it was because the driver/owner had to wait for the rest of his staff to arrive before he could leave. So if you are counting on this hotel for laundry, do it at another facility.
That being said, the young lady at the front desk went several extra miles to try and get us our laundry before we left, which made up for a lot!
I will be back to this hotel, and to visit York and explore more thoroughly, when I can.

Room Tip: Pick a ground floor opening onto the garden.

Hi, We stayed here for one night in a twin room (No.37) and had high hopes after viewing the website prior to booking our stay. The hotel appears to be in two halfs, one which has undergone a refurb and the remainder, old and tired. The bathroom in our room was awful, clean but grim, matresses awful, hole in duvet cover, bleak /uninspiring room with an infestation of ladybird inside the windows, overpriced at £99. Breakfast nice, bar dated, menu prices a little OTT for what it was. Location good for York Uni that was the purpose of our visit. Shame hotel not so nice as we'll be vising York on a regular basis for the next 3 years but we'll be staying elsewhere. Took the time to complete the feedback form/ told reception about issues, no response..... supply and demand? Needs total re-furb.
