We needed an overnight stop for Bank Holiday Sunday. Would normally have stayed at Premier Inn, but they were asking £86 for room only. Found this at £109 DBB so it was a no-brainer!!
Room was comfortable enough and dinner was lovely and well served by attentive staff.
Breakfast was satisfactory.
We would stay again

What a wonderful quaint hotel, just a few miles from York city centre, a 5 minute bus ride, regular bus service into York.
Beautifully decorated rooms,
We were met on arrival by a warm friendly receptionist, who was happy to help us organise our trip into york and places to visit in and around the city.

Our evening meal was stunning, the Yorkshire pork tasting plate being a highlight, breakfast the following morning was of an equally high standard.

We will certainly be back to this gem of a hotel in York.

We were at the wedding of Biffy84 in March, and can confirm just how poor it was. I watched as a waiter seemed to just flip a tray of full and empty glasses of Champagne, and I was told by another guest that that was the third tray he had dropped. He wasn't at all repentent and did not seem bothered that another guest nearly trod on broken glass. The canapes were not very plentiful. My husband was barged in the back with a tray by the duty manager, - no apology. The eagerly anticipated meal was a big let down. I had ordered ogen melon, pineapple and kiwi served with a passion fruit salsa - no sign of any pineapple or kiwi. The roast parsnip and ginger soup was missing the ginger, and my husband's french onion soup was like gravy made with gravy browning. There was only one slice of rather fatty lamb, and the vegetables had not been cooked at all. Al Dente according to the staff!! Our bride spent most of the meal going to and fro to the kitchen.
The evening buffet was not in the same room which took quite a while for guests to realise as it was not announced until late into the evening. The bacon and sausage was only just cooked and not kept hot. Also at breakfast we noticed that a waitress placed pots of hot drinks right in front of a small child, luckily his father was very quick in moving them out of reach. Tables were slow to be cleared.
There seems to be a general lack of consistency with management and staff training. Won't be going back here.

My husband and I held our wedding reception at the Pavilion in March and have been left deeply upset and disappointed by the experience.

Rather than be able to enjoy the day, we had cause for a number of complaints that interrupted our celebrations; THREE trays of champagne were dropped by staff whilst the guests were arriving and several guests overheard staff comment that they didn't care about the spillage, the food presented during the wedding breakfast was not as we had requested per the menus, the guests complained of raw and overlooked food and I (the bride) found the most vulgar hair on my plate. The staff tried to pass this off as having fallen during transit to the table but as it was nestled in my vegetables I disagree. It was interested to read that anither customer had a similar experience and I can only assume the staff are going bald.

We appreciate that big events don't often run without at least a minor hitch, but the number of problems experienced demonstrate lack of organisation, management and adequately trained staff.

Unfortunately this was not the end of our ordeal. We met with the hotel to discuss our concerns and were left feeling as if we were to blame. The staff showed no concern and even told us that we'd left staff feeling demotivated...how do they think we felt? In addition, the duty manager, who I believe is the owners son, burst in to the room demanding that we vacate it so lunch could be served. The room was in no state to hold guests as the tablecloths were stained and tables had not been cleared from the previous meal.

Even the owners show no remorse or obligation for customer care and have insulted us in their response.

Overall this has been a very upsetting and painful experience. We put a great deal of time, planning, money and trust into creating a day that would be full of very happy memories. The mishaps on the day no longer matter but it is the staffs rude and belligerent attitude which has been most upsetting.

This was our first visit to the hotel and booked a leisure break which included a four poster bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom attached to the bedroom was also huge and both were clean and we had large white fluffy towels. We ate in the restaurant the first evening and the food was nice but a little expensive.the service was very good.Breakfast is taken either in the restaurant or the bar area and the cereals and juices are in a small kitchen area between the two.the breakfast was nicely presented on hot plates. The hotel is situated about a mile and a half out of the city and there are bus stops in the vicinity of the hotel. The second night we ate in the city where there are plenty of restaurants with early evening menu's available. There was a wedding at the hotel but the staff coped very well and we were not affected by any noise. We can say that all the staff were very pleasant and efficient and would consider using the hotel again

Booked to stay at the York pavilion for a weekend away with my other half. Very pleased upon arrival. Lovely hotel with plenty of on site parking. Friendly greeting at reception and a brief tour was given to show us where everything was. Room was reasonable, everything you need and clean enough. Toiletries provided were also of good quality. Breakfast each morning was lovely. Plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast arrived hot and tasty. Quite a walk into the city centre. Took us about half an hour but was pleasant enough.
The major complaint I have about this hotel is the noise! We were in a ground floor room so obviously had rooms above us. I am not normally one to complain but we could hear every word the couple above us said. The lack of quiet led to a terrible nights sleep with us only ale to fall asleep at gone 3 am. This happened again the second night and resulted us feeling very tired for the whole weekend. I am sorry to have to report this fault as it would otherwise been a perfect getaway location.

Just a little positive note to finish off. Adam who I believe was the head waiter was exceptional. He gave brilliant service throughout our stay and provided us with restaurant and attraction recommendations. I cannot fault his efforts and I believe he provided us with the best hotel service we have ever had. That guy deserves some serious praise!

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room otherwise you won't get a moments sleep.

Needed somewhere to stay overnight for an event in York. i know York well and I wanted somewhere a little further out of the Centre (where I could still walk into York from) and with free parking. This seemed as good as any. Only basically wanted a bed for the night. On arrival there was a wedding party so the car park was almost full! Just about squeezed into a space. On booking in only given cursory direction to the room and no one offered to take the bags for us. we had to fight our way through a busy bar full of wedding reception guests. However they were the only two bad experiences. A lovely hotel with friendly staff. A Nice room with plenty of space and well appointed. Asked for a late night snack and got a HUGE plate of sandwiches. Painless check in and check out. No noise disturbance despite the wedding and i think this is because of the layout of the hotel and the location of our room. The hotel did its job.
