The IBIS York provided our base for a 2 night stay in York in August 2011. We arrived in York by train and with the hotel being only a 10-15 min walk from the station walked round the corner to the hotel. Well located, just outside the southern edge of the city there were regular buses into the city, the York tour stopped just over the road by the cinema and it was a pleasant walk to most of York's central attractions.
The exterior of the hotel was clean and in keeping with the historic setting. On arrival we were given a warm and friendly welcome by the receptionist. Our room was a standard format IBIS room and was located towards the rear of the building with a view across the city to York Minster. Being standard IBIS beds they were definitely basic & budget but they stay as a whole was excellent value with the room being clean and staff being friendly.
The buffet breakfast was excellent value in the morning and a good start to a day of walking around the city.
Overall the friendly staff and breakfast made the stay at the IBIS York enjoyable. If budget is your main concern when staying in York then this hotel is very good.More
