Yorkshire Museum also here. Nice place to take a break from shopping and sightseeing. Plenty of lawns to have a picnic, could do with more benches

“Roman treat”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

A nice place to spend a few hours set in nice gardens, we were lucky not raining and could sit on the grass and enjoy an ice cream with grand kids. Went in the hall and saw a few interesting things plus outside what looked like Roman wall plus a beautiful view of the river Ouse

“A lovely place for a walk or a picnic.”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

There are several things to look at in these well maintained gardens. There is St Mary's Abbey ruins, an astronomical observatory and it is also were the York museum is located. Lots of open space to enjoy being outside. There is an entrance beside The Lendal Bridge,.

What is not to like about the museum gardens. A fantastic place to spend the day with a picnic or your lunch break with.a coffee. The museum in the gardens is also excellent.
