These gardens are an ideal place to visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of York centre. Within easy walking distance from the centre shops these gardens are a good place to just relax and maybe picnic. The gardens do get busy at weekends and in very good weather but even then they are still a relaxing place to be. Also a nice place to take a stroll and wander round the ruins.

We chose a warm sunny day to sit and relax in the gardens whilst we enjoyed a picnic . The gardens are extremely popular with hundreds of people walking , sitting , eating or just simply relaxing in the well maintained surroundings . St Marys abbey ruins are in the grounds and well worth a visit . Nice and relaxing on a warm sunny day

Frequented by both locals and tourists. Lovely and well maintained gardens. Consider bringing a picnic and good book.

Fabulous weather, great surroundings for a picnic. Really busy because of a river festival ongoing, but still nice
