Stayed for one night mid-week. Was checked in (and out) quickly and was made to feel welcome. The room was large and kept well. The shower was a bit of a let-down as not very powerful. I could hear the fire doors in the corridor banging shut (on an automatic closer) throughout the night.

Couldn't be more helpful at this Premier Inn.
Staff were excellent, food excellent, bedroom perfect.
Location for the city wall at Micklegate was 200 yards away.
No car park, had to park in Nunnery Lane, 300 yards away.
Will stay there again.

Stayed 21st and 22nd May 2013, Bed was supposedly a Hypnos, it was quite simply the most uncomfortable bed it has ever been my misfortune to have to sleep in. Absolutely rock solid. The receptionist said " But it was only changed 2 months ago!" I asked for the heating in my room to be turned off. I returned to it having been increased from 18oC to 23oC! Plus the window was closed and an additional heater await use in the middle of the floor. No sleep for 2 nights has left me exhausted. It's a pity because everyone else I came into contact with were absolutely lovely and helpful.

Room Tip: The annexe with rooms beginning with 2001 were the quietist.

WhitbreadHotels, Online Customer Service at Premier Inn York City (Blossom St South) Hotel, responded to this review, May 29, 2013
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. All mattresses are made to Premier Inn specification and supplied by Hypnos. We understand that the firmness of a bed is down to personal preference but can also indicate that this is a fairly new mattress. If we are advised that a mattress is not to our standard we will work with our supplier to either replace or repair the mattress. For future reference I would advise speaking with the hotel directly once you have submitted your booking as they would be aware of the rooms where a mattress had recently been replaced. We are also concerned to learn of the excessive temperature in your room, please email talktous@premierinn.com & we will investigate these issues further. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave your feedback.

This Premier Inn is in a great location just a short distance (five minute walk) from York railway station which makes it ideal location for visiting the attractions of York - which are too many to list. Very helpful and friendly staff ( I'd rate them exemplar), the rooms are exactly what one would expect when staying at a Premier Inn - comfortable, clean and roomy. No complaints at all. My only caveat would be if the weather is inclement then it's a short external walk to the restaurant/breakfast room - about fifty yards/meters - other than that it's an ideal location for a long or short visit to York. This visit we were dog less as Premier Inns don't allow dogs other than guide dogs to stay. Premier Inns have to be the best of the budget class hotels in the UK - I don't find them budget class at all as they have everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible at a very reasonable cost.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Minster Block which was perfect for us.

Very handy for station. No need for taxi but make sure you're at the right hotel as there are two Premier Inns within a few yards of each other.Very clean and tidy although they have a strange policy of only providing one hand towel per room. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was a decent size. Staff were very obliging and courteous. However you only get 30 mins free Wi Fi per day unless you pay £3 daily

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are subject to noise from (presumably) the air con system
