Stopped at York House for two nights leading up to christmas it was a lovely place to stop. Nice relaxed atmosphere, lovely clean room, brill breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff at what i would class as a very reasonable price. Easy access off the York ring road and only ten minute stroll into town............just book it.

Spotless and comfy. Loved the good nights sleep we had so much,we are going to buy a mattress topper like the one we slept on. Shower room was huge and a super shower. Breakfast cooked to order it was plentiful and I didn't need to eat until tea time. Easy walk into York even for me (not a keen walker) only 10 mins. Did catch the bus which stops outside York House as we wanted to go to the Railway museum and wasn't sure how far it was. Car park which is a bonus in York, Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for one nights and booked two rooms in advance.
We arrived late (~10pm). But it wasn't a problem for the owner. The B&B itself is situated on a bigger street in York. You have to walk 10-15 minutes to get into the Historic Town and you have a bus direct at in front of the door, but also the street isn't light traffic.
We got two rooms. One of them was really spacious and had a nice bathroom. The other one was smaller and had a really small bathroom with a boiler for the shower. Also the room smelled a bit like smoke. So it's hard to rate the room and stay. Maybe 3.5 points would be best ;).
The breakfast was good but not outstanding and you could eat in the winter garden. We leaved our luggage in the B&B to get into the town and take it with us later which wasn't a problem.

Just returned from a fabulous couple of days in York for St.Nicholas Christmas Fayre. York House is the ideal base as the walk into the city centre is liternally 5 minutes away. Friendly hosts, clean rooms with everything that you could need. Breakfast was a treat with all tastes catered for. Will definitely be returning to York House in the not too distant future.

I too would have gone 5 stars, but I found the rooms on the cold side as the heating was turned on so low, so the radiators where just luke warm. The bed had rubber hot water bottles placed on the end which gave me the clue "looks like the radiators won't be hot". But having said this a fan heater was supplied, but if you put it on the higher setting it cut out! I found the shower fine and the bedroom clean and well thought out. The breakfast was excellent and the coffee lovely.
Leave your car after parking and go into the city on the No 9 bus save's all the bother trying to find a spot.to park. Free if you have a bus pass!! A taxi will cost about £5 when you want to go back as the buses stop early. I would stay again.

Room Tip: A room at the back is quieter as the road is very busy.

There were 8 of us on a yearly re-union, we have just returned today after spending Friday - Sunday.
It was very clean, Owners and staff were very pleasant and helpful. On site parking is good. Close to City centre for walking or bus stop outside with Park and Ride or normal bus service (10mins).
Fantastic choices for breakfast. Missed having a lounge.
We could recommend two restaurants: The Go Down and The Lime House.
