We were staying at the nearby premier inn and found the menu at the in house restaurant a little limited so we ventured the 2 minute walk to Tritons - having read previous reviews on trip advisor. The location may be next to the busy A64 but don't let this put you off - this is an absolutely outstanding place and offers some of the best food and service I have ever come across. The menu is excellent and will appeal to the most fussy of eaters and the food and fish is of the highest quality - better than many of the 'renowned' whitby fish and chip shops. The menu extends to more than fish and the choice and quality is excellent. I opted for the large haddock and the freshness of the fish and its expert preparation spoke volumes. Real Yorkshire tea is offered and my wife - normally a coffee drinker - hailed the brew at the nicest tea she had ever had - high praise indeed!! Given its location, it may be easy to misjudge this gem as a roadside cafe - please do not make this mistake! This is a hidden treasure that deserves to thrive - the bar is very reasonably priced and well stocked with good quality drinks and the wine menu has been selected by a prudent man who knows his wines. The staff are amongst the friendliest I have met and there is a a genuine family run atmosphere. The place is spotless and the decor is absolutely faultless, I will be back!
