“Lovely family and a great stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

I recently stayed in York for 4 nights and had a great time at the Old Vic guest house. The family that ran the guest house were lovely and always helpful. They made sure that your stay was comfortable and would help recommend tourist attractions and nice shops. The room we stayed in was a good size and very clean also. There was also a bus stop right outside the guest home, which proved very helpful in the rain! There was also a pub, a grocery store and a pharmacy close by. Would definately recommend this guest house to those heading to York!

Absolutely wonderful time at the Old Vic Guest House. The whole family is very kind and friendly, and they have the loveliest dog alive. Would recommend it any day. Great sleep, great breakfast. A very happy stay.

Travelled over to York to see friends and stayed over at The Old Vic Guest House. Just the one night spent there but what a fantastic experience.
Hospitality - faultless. A very warm greeting upon arrival and whenever I met the owners.
Room - very comfortable and very clean.
Breakfast - very filling. In fact I've not eaten all day since breakfast time.
Considering Ian and Julie have only been running The Old Vic for a few weeks now, you would think that they have been doing this for a lot longer.
I would certainly recommend to anyone who is visiting York. Whether it be for a weekend or a whole week you can be sure of a wonderful stay.
If this level of attention can be obtained within the few weeks that Ian and Julie have been running The Old Vic, I can't wait to see what they can achieve in the future.
Thankyou for a wonderful stay. I will definately be coming back again.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Its the warm welcome that makes The Old Vic a cut above anyone else.

me and my husband went to york for a 3 day stay and stayed at the old vic. we were made to feel very welcome by sharon and the staff, our room was spotlessly clean, and was cleaned every day. Breakfast was excellent, wide choice of cereal and full english. we would defininatley stay there again and recommend it to others, great value for money!!

thank you

We have just returned from our fourth long weekend break at the Old Vic in York. Well, why would you want to stay anywhere else? Friendly Yorkshire folk, free parking, a warm bedroom, a comfy bed, a good breakfast, a short stroll in to the city centre, and a sensible price! We have also found it very handy for the local chemist, mini Sainsbury’s, public houses, and the pleasant riverside walks – both banks of the Ouse, and by day or night. We already have already planned what we want to do on our next visit!
