Description: The Living Room York is situated on the first floor within the new riverside Merchant Exchange development on Bridge Street adjacent to the Ouse Bridge. With fabulous views across the river Ouse, it has quickly become a favourite neighbourhood hangout in the city centre. Dine on a range of affordable hit dishes such as the crispy duck wrap, sea bass on a bed of ratatouille and wild rocket, and Thai salmon fishcakes. Drinks go down just as well as the food, probably because theres always something new to try from the monthly beer, wine and cocktails list.

“Office Christmas party - remarkably good!!!”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

We've tried lots of different restaurants over the years for our office Christmas party and I have to say that this was the best yet. We were worried that the service might be slow because we hadn't preordered but the food was served just at the right pace and was very good. There was a nice atmosphere and a good night was had by all!!

“Useful place for lunch”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We called in for lunch on a Saturday earlier this month. A lot of places in York (including here) can get very busy at lunch but thankfully you can book here. Service was fine, though the main courses did take a little while to arrive. The food itself was really rather good - the venison cottage pie was just what was needed on a cold winter day and my partner had a burger and chips, which she thoroughly enjoyed (especially the chips).
The restaurant does get a little noisy though (even at lunch time).

“Very disappointing Living Room in York”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Visited the Living Room in York with several colleagues for our Christmas meal. Very disappointed to say the least. Despite a very hard working waitress the food was very disappointing. Portion size of the starter was very small. Waited an hour between starter and main course then it was cold and very different portion size between quests.

On the whole this leads me to say, do not waste your money.

“Poor food”
Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

Staff were not attentive, and you have to pay for extra bread rolls. Starter was disgusting; ricotta tart-must have been over done as it tasted of boiled milk. Main was really dry and so were the veg. Roasted but bland, no flavourings. No sauce so i had to ask for gravy otherwise main would have been inedible. Roast potatoes were like cotton wool in your mouth. Wine is really expensive. Cheesecake was lovely. Paid a lot for a poor meal. They take 10% off food on a tuesday, then add 10% tip for the whole meal, not just the food. Wouldn't have paid it if we hadn't been in a group. Wouldn't go back.
