Description: We are an independent, family run licensed cafe/restaurant situated in York's resurgent Micklegate. We have an all day Breakfast/Brunch Menu and a lunch menu which changes weekly. Kitchen opens 9-3/ We cook everything to order using the best quality fresh ingredients. We support local suppliers and independent producers, bakers and roasters. Our menu takes its inspiration from the seasons and the richness of the produce that we source with our team. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we open in the evenings for casual dining. Our talented chefs create a menu that changes weekly, celebrating the seasons, the abundance of produce available to us. They cook with passion and reverence, and our dishes are unpretentious yet soulful. We serve a variety of dishes and we try hard to cater for vegans and vegetarians with plant based, inventive, modern dishes. We believe that food is that food is what brings us together, and the ambience in the evening is relaxed and informal. Covers are limited.

A friend booked at table for brunch. I was running late and staff member saw my fluster as I came in and asked if I was joining Miss XXX, yes, come on in! What a welcome. Decor done with a really stylish flair. Service pitch perfect. Food: shakshuka for my pal, a spicy ‘nduja version for me. Amazing, with Haxby sourdough on the side. Fun, vibrant young people serving and cooking and delivering stuff, it had a real buzz and everything came on time. In that way that makes it all look effortless. Which of course we know it isn’t. Book a table though or you might a) miss out or b) only get a shared seating. What a treat.

Stumbled across Partisan at end of stay in York. Wish we’d found it earlier as the food looked amazing with a room full of happy customers.
Would consigning back to York just to eat there,

Food was alright, cakes however looked nice but never got to try them as food took too long to come and needed to get back to the car. Found it rather pricey for what we got. latte came luke warm. There are too many tables crammed in such a small space you can’t get in and out of your seat without hitting another persons table or chair. We found the “social seating” thing rather odd. This is where you share tables with strangers. It’s rather awkward and hard to decline this when you get told that at the table with them looking at you, you can’t really refuse. And on that basis we won’t return again and rated Partisan a 2. Didn’t enjoy it, sorry!

Another fantastic trip to Partisan. Delicious (as always!) food, in a casual relaxed atmosphere. Today though very busy, staff were really friendly and seated us as soon as they could. Love their new sharing tables too. Sociable and also means less time in a queue :)
Thank you Partisan for another lovely Sunday morning well spent. We’ll be back soon!
