5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Palm Court this September. The room was spotlessly clean with a big ensuite. The owners Nigel and Helen made us very welcome. The hotel is only a five minute walk to the city centre and there is free offroad parking. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of options. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

We found Palm Court a really pleasant stay, the owners were very kind, friendly and helpful. The food was good with a wonderful selection. The room was exactly what we expected, spacious and clean, and the location was perfect for a quick walk into York City. We were made to feel very welcome, a very lovely little getaway!

Room Tip: Steep stairs if you have trouble walking to the second floor mention before booking!

We stayed here three nights while visiting York. Upon our arrival we were very warmly greeted by Nigel who helped with our luggage and showed us to our room.

We stayed in the family room which accommodated the five of us in three single and one double bed. The room was large, clean and spacious with more than enough room for everything and everyone. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was roomy and very modern.

The location is ideal as it is literally a five minute walk to the city wall.

The breakfasts were very tasty and there were plenty of options. Nigel's mom took our orders. She was so lovely and charming…after three days there, we all began to feel like we were her own kids!

When it came time for us to leave, Nigel allowed us to keep our bags there after we checked out so we could pick up our rental car, and when we returned he once again helped us out with our bags.

All in all, I simply cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at The Palm Court in York. Nigel, Helen and Nigel's mother (I believe he said her name was Beryl) were the most gracious, welcoming, helpful and warm people you could ever meet, and our stay there was perfect. If I am ever fortunate enough to return to York, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Cheers from your Canadian friends, and thanks again for a lovely stay!

Stayed in room 10; it is up the steep stairs, but with enough light and somehow above during the working day a noisy street. Room is large enough for 2 persons, with two separate beds. TV, wifi, secure parking behind the house. Good full english breakfast with fruits and yoghurts. About 10 min walk to old city wall.

My family of five stayed here for one night to break up the journey from Scotland to London. The welcome was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Unfortunately, the weather was sweltering and the room was hot, but this would probably not normally a problem. The beds were uncomfortable though and we could feel the springs. Breakfast was great and having parking at the back was perfect. It was a handy location and the town centre was only a short walk. It is situated on a busy road and the traffic was quite noisy. The man who was running the place was so lovely though.

We have twice stayed at Palm Court. The welcome was first rate, food excellent and rooms spacious, warm and clean. Prices are very competitive. There is also a large very comfortable guest lounge, something many establishments do not have.
We will always check availability here when visiting York and would not hesitate in recommending this excellent B&B.

Room Tip: we were given the same excellent room both visits.

Palm court good base to visit York. Traditional English B&B. Very welcomed on arrival. Nothing too much trouble. Rooms lovely with lots of space. Nicely decorated and very clean. Very nice breakfast to start your day. Car parking to the rear. Good location to walk to the centre. Would recommend and will stay again.
