“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

This was our first time staying at Number 34 and we had a wonderful experience. Our train got us into York in between check in times but Amy saw us outside from next door and was kind enough to come over to let us in and show us to our room. The room was lovely and comfortable and on the ground floor and we had no issue with noise from other guests or outside. Breakfast was delicious and accommodating to vegetarians which was very appreciated. It is located within a quick walk to the town center as well as the train station. I would definitely stay here again if visiting York.

Have taken groups of people to York for many years and have stayed there several times over the past decade and have always been satisfied. Consistently good. Well maintained B&B. Place is neat and clean and the owners helpful. Breakfast is included and menu is provided the day before and you select what you wish for breakfast the next day. Serves a full English breakfast or you can go lighter if you wish. Excellent location with just a 5 minute walk into town. Cost is reasonable. Good value for money.

Room Tip: York, England is a very popular tourist destination especially on weekends and holidays so book you...

Very comfortable. We had the room with the extra side room and bed (sleeps 3). The first night my daughter slept in the extra bed as she was in a tournament at York University. The second night my husband arrived from Canada and my Mother stayed in that room. It was spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfasts were very good and the staff were very helpful. We didn't have a cell phone so they called a taxi for us and stored our luggage the day we were leaving so that we could go sightseeing before we had to leave. We didn't have a car, but found that it was an easy walk to the walled city and sightseeing. We wished we could have stayed another night!

I stayed here with my partner for a weekend break in April. Our room was comfortable and clean, got a great nights sleep and when we left I wanted to take the bed home with me!

Breakfast was really tasty, good quality ingredients and plenty of optional extras on offer like fruit, yoghurt and toast.

Although we had to check out by 10 we were allowed to keep our small case in the property and collect it later in the day, meaning we didn't have to carry it around with us all day. This was a big help and muchly appreciated.

Had some issues finding the place initially, the signposting isn't great but it's in a nice location, around a 5/10 minute walk from the centre and handy for all the major attractions.

Staff were polite and friendly and would definitely come back again in the future.

after planning a weekend in york to watch our son's music gig we booked number 34, I was reading through some of the reviews and found the negative ones not to be true for us. We rang ahead to let them know we would arrive early and not later as first advised and found no problems. Room was very comfortable with a large bed, bathroom was lovely and breakfast ran smoothly. Didn't know what clive c was complaining about if breakfast says 8:15 till 09:00 why come down after 09:00. if he was catching a plane they wouldn't hold it up for him. Overhaul a very comfortable stay and we would both stay again.

Room Tip: room 3 has seperate part with single bed

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for two nights at the beginning of December. The B&B is well located within walking distance from the train station and the centre of York.

I booked a single room and there is no denying that room 4 is tiny but it had everything I needed and was clean. The bathroom despite being small was of a very high standard with good quality toiletries and an excellent shower.

The welcome I had was nice with directions given to York and the password for the Wifi provided (wifi is free to use with a reasonably good connection speed).

The breakfast was good although it is served very early (between 08:15 - 09:00) and you have to place your order the evening before which is slightly unusual but no big deal. There is plenty to eat and the host was very friendly and was keen to ensure I had everything I wanted.

This is a nice B&B and I enjoyed my stay.
