Stayed in the Hobbits Cottage for my 19th Birthday, had a wonderful time! We were only around 40 minutes from home but it felt like we were in a different part of the world! Ideal rural location for walking and looking out onto beautiful sunsets but close enough to York/Malton for great days out! The hosts Mark and Lindsay were brilliant, there when we needed them and even got me a lovely card to say Happy Birthday! Thankyou so much for making our trip away just that extra bit more, the Hobbit really is an ideal romantic cottage for 2. We will definitely be returning again!

Such a lovely little cottage with everything that you need for a great holiday. The cottage was very clean and had great facilities. The location was great too, with a lovely view and very peaceful. Lindsay and Marcus were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area.
A delightful cottage ideally located between the city of York with all its attractions and history and the beautiful natural moors and countryside of North Yorkshire.
The property was very well equipped allowing independent living - a real home from home.
The hosts Lindsay and Marcus balanced just the right level of attention by being welcoming on arrival and departure whilst being invisible yet discretely on hand if needed
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were fortunate enough to get clear bright and unseasonably mild weather allowing us to enjoy the lovely countryside
The bed - described as "super cosy " - lived up to its description
We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years, and this is right up there with the best.
It was cosy, extremely well appointed and had all the facilities you could wish for. The owners, Lyndsay and Marcus, were on hand to answer any questions we had, and they provided a very warm and friendly welcome.
The décor was plain and very clean, but it really suited the property. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the views and walks from the cottage were great.
This is a beautiful bijou cottage nestling in fantastic surroundings, remote and peaceful but still close enough to all that Yorkshire has to offer. A car is essential to reach most of the big attractions but there are still many short walks close by.
The hosts could not have done anything more for us to make our stay anymore comfortable, very welcoming indeed, making our week with them a delight.
If we never return, which would be a shame, I can whole heartedly recommend this as a base for anyone wanting to explore the Howardian Hills and beyond.
My partner and I stayed for a long weekend and the Hobbits is a wonderful conversion. I can't think of a single fault and I do highly recommend anyone considering the Hobbits to get in touch with Lindsay and Marcus.
Hobbits served as an ideal retreat for the pair of us. Located in the hamlet of Stearsby, it was lovely to be only able to hear farm traffic (and the odd sheep!). Lindsay, Marcus (and Pom the dog!) were excellent hosts and it was obvious that a lot of care and time had gone into designing the Barn on the inside. It was well furnished and the Kitchen contained all of the essential items that you would need.
The back-drop of the property made for some beautiful photos in the evening and although we didn't use the wood-burner, we imagined that this would be a lovely addition to any couple staying in the winter months.
We have already managed to convince one set of parents to book the property for themselves, and we would definitely consider going back too!
Thank you Lindsay and Marcus. We loved Hobbits.
