I love Spanish food but this what we were served you could not call Spanish. Really small portion of tapas (looked like children's portions), paella very poor. We ordered bread as a starter which I believe was defrosted in the morning and left uncovered till the evening - so dry!! Service - not the best. The girl who was serving us was abrupt and she spoke in a tone which suggested we were doing her a favour by being there.

Ate here with my fiance' after ordering our wedding rings at a nearby jewellers and also a couple of weeks later when we picked them up.
The staff were friendly and made sure we were well looked after, they enquired if we had just got engaged and were genuinly happy for us.

Both times we loved the food and the atmosphere and will be back the next time were in York.

As visitors to York 2/3 times a year, La Tasca is always on our list of places to eat. (Had visited Glasgow branch) We have always experienced good service and great food. Sadly last week was the worst of any place we have visited and we will not be back. Ordered starter of mixed breads, mixed olives and dips and jug of beer. Bread felt as if it had been taken from fridge and warmed, middle felt as if thawing. Just eating starter, poured beer when tapas dishes arrived. When we said we were eating starters still, told to "dip our bread in the sauce". In moving plates on table, slice of bread fell on floor, taken away, not replaced. 5 of 7 tapas food was cold and plates absolutely cold. Usually these terra cotta dishes are sizzling hot. When waitress told, she said they couldn't be too hot or she would burn her fingers! Taken away and re-heated while we were left with our two other dishes to eat. Quantities less than usual. Ordered large size patatas bravas but came like small diced potatoes rather than usual chunky pieces and much reduced quantity. No one came to ask if we enjoyed our meal. Young male behind bar and young female waitress throwing ice at each other. Manager did notice and glared at them; they took no notice and contined. Very few people in that night - party of three couples for birthday with babies and toddlers. About 6 other people. Told manager before we left, he apologised. Didn't order dessert or coffees so disappointed.
We arrived after 7 p.m. Finished and out (starters and main tapas dishes - and reheated) by 8 p.m. Usually we would linger all evening over starter, drinks, tapas dishes, dessert and coffees. We will not be back. When we told locals they said they could have told us not to go as it had deteriorated. Need to take note please.

Food arrived very quickly after ordering (8 tapas dishes). Only one of which was worthy of the price paid! Food bland and not very hot. Beer wasn't great and cost us £70! Would never go back.
