Just returned from a wonderful weekend break in September Cottage, Cliff Street, Whitby. The cottage is really well located- it's set one block back from the harbour and attractions such the beach, bars, restaurants including the Magpie and three amusement arcades (it took less than five minutes to walk there with three toddlers in tow). This made it really easy to pop in and out and meant that we got out and about lots more than we otherwise would have done. Its elevated position means it has fantastic views of the abbey and the sea- particularly from the top floor seating area.
The cottage itself is very charming- it feels very higgledy piggedly with lots of nooks and crannies for the kids to explore. It is beautifully decorated with lots of local touches and is even rather grand in places; especially the first floor bedroom with its four poster bed, sofa and rocking chairs.
We were surprised at how well- equipped the cottage is- it really has everything you could need, and at how helpful and accommodating the owners were. We felt it was excellent value for money and will definitely stay again.
September Cottage was a lovely cottage to stay in - convenient for the town's amenities and with a spacious en-suite master bedroom with a lovely hot shower, extra living spaces and well appointed kitchen. The downstairs areas are small, bear in mind, but it's a traditional cottage and one should bear that in mind. There's a lovely paved but well planted outdoor space to relax in when weather is clement, plus extra lounging/sitting areas on both first and second floors and two bathrooms as well. There's brilliant views over the cliffs/sea from the top floors too.
Lynne could not have been more helpful and responsive regarding queries.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and hope to come again!
Lovely cottage in a great location . No problem with parking two cars . Even had a garden to have coffee overlooking the Abbey . Fantastic views fron kitchen . One thing spoilt the holiday ... lack of seating in sitting room . When you go away with friends you expect to be abl to sit in the same room to chat etc .... was not as the photo on the booking site . Only one settee ,one bucket chair and a strange upright pair of chairs joined together !! Felt like we were in a Dr waiting room . We were only a group of 4 it can sleep 6 !!! First floor bedroom would make a lovely grand sitting room could have sofa bed in if needed to sleep 6 . Snug and ensuite knocked into a family bathroom with bath .. perfect ! A lot can be done to this lovely cottage to make it very comfortable for 4 people .
This really is a perfect location - situated in an interesting old fishing town, beautiful beaches nearby and on the edge of the moors with wonderful views and walks. The cottage was clean and delightful, the owners had thought of everything!
We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay in Whitby! The cottage itself was lovely with wonderful views of the Abbey and the harbour. The garden area was gorgeous and I especially enjoyed watching the butterflies while relaxing to the sound of the church bells! The cottage itself had everything needed to make you feel at home and the photos don't do it justice. The proximity to everything is also a welcome bonus with the footpath from the property leading straight to the harbour. We will definitely book here again and thoroughly recommend it to anybody considering visiting Whitby
