Having called here for a meal while visiting Whitby last year we asked to see the rooms.
On the strength of that dining experience and having viewed the rooms we retuned this week for an overnight stay.
We stayed in room 3 as it was the only available room at short notice. Room 3 is 1 of 2 balcony rooms, the other being room 6, at the top of the price range. The bed is on a balcony raised above the main room.Very interesting layout and very well done.
The bed was comfortable and clean but 1 side was against the apex of the roof so being 6FT I took the other side. The electric Velox roof window was a nice touch.
Down stairs a large screen tv and reclining leather settee were set on stone flags with underfloor heating.
The bathroom had a separate shower and a Jacuzzi bath (which I enjoyed after a long days walking) and was nicely laid out clean and spacious.
The breakfast was included in the price, even though I could not find this info anywhere on the web site or at the hotel.Breakfast was nicely cooked and presented with good quality produce.
Having dined here last year and my wife being a veterinarian we had high expectations for out evening meal. We were not disappointed - my wife had the onion tart let while I had the chicken sizzler. Both meals were excellent and substantial enough to satisfy both of us without the need to fill up with a sweet.
The bar has a good selection of Whiskey and a chose of larger as well as 1 electric beer but from my point of view was let down by a lack of hand pulled beer.
All in all a very nice stay.
A bit on the pricey side but anyone planning to stay knows this when booking.
Just a few miles from Whitby and Robin hoods bay both worth a visit but ware sensible foot ware when visiting Robin hoods bay you will need them.
