Stayed at the Resolution Hotel for a few days mid April with my partner. Perfectly located close to all the major attractions. Customer service excellent and check in swift with a very polite receptionist, the room was larger than i'd expected with a lovely bathroom and was very clean. Plenty of coffee facilities supplied and flatscreen tv. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, and the bar does amazing meals. Try the lamb burger. To die for. The only thing that sort of irked me, was the fact that some people sit on the steps at the main entrance to smoke, but that's a tiny element of a fantastic few days. Will definitely stay again, hopefully for longer than 2 nights. Book this hotel if you want to be impressed but don't want to break the bank. Great stuff.

Excellent staff, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room 110 was newly refurbished so lovely and clean and warm. Great size bathroom, only problems in there were lack of towel rail and too little shelving for toiletries. Towels big and fluffy. No chairs in the bedroom to sit and admire the tiny view of the Abbey. However we asked and got two dining type chairs very quickly. There is room enough for a couple of more comfy chairs but hey ho! Plenty of clothes storage. Flat screen tv. Tea coffee and yummy biscuits. I thought the bed was hard but it didn't bother husband so each to their own. Breakfast was all buffet and not the best I've ever had but it was ok. Cereal, yoghurt, apples, bacon, fried eggs sitting on fried bread, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, sausages, black pudding. Toaster with white and brown. Pots of marmalade and jam I think (didn't have any) tea, coffee and choice of fruity teas, apple and orange juice. Whole building has been refurb end and is very clean and quite smart. Disco or something in the basement but didn't hear loud noise. Meals available and some happy hour drinks. Great location, just a few minutes walk from the Magpie and swing bridge. Would stay again and I have to say we are quite picky!

Room Tip: I think the second floor rooms have a better view and there is a lift!

I never complain but this is the worst hotel I have ever stopped in. Can not get a good nights sleep because even on the top floor the music from the bar is so loud! The decor is dated with paint peeling off the walls. Stains all over the carpets! Mirror no where near a plug socket! Bed small and uncomfortable! Don't bother stopping here!

Rooms gorgeous with lots attention to detail re housekeeping. Plenty towels and toiletries and loads tea coffee milk etc (we brew-aholics)

Rooms were nosey as could hear corridor chatter of other guests.

There is no nearby Parking as everywhere seems to be 20min no return or residents permit holders only. We parked on leisure centre car park £5.40 for up to 24hr, and it's bout a ten min walk from hotel /on a slope!

Staff were quite approachable and helpful.

View from our Window was lovely, skyline of Whitby and the abbey

Breakfast was ok: cereals fruit yogurt toast and usual cooked breakfast items.
Help yourself buffet style.
Though eggs were sloppy for our liking-(we like the white properly cooked)

Everyone very welcoming

Only tiny critiscm is noise from adjacent rooms and corridor

Would stop again when in Whitby

We had stayed at the Resolution some years ago and it has been spruced up since. Pro's: the location is excellent, middle of town and Skinner Street has nice quirky shops. 24 hour pay and display parking nearby was good, reception and throughout our stay staff were lovely. Our room on the second floor had good rooftop views to the Abbey and very powerful shower . There is a lift, not to be taken for granted in seaside hotels. The bar/breakfast area is big and light and very pleasant, ideal for the evening and morning and with good free wifi; much nicer place to spend time than most hotels. The cons: our double room was rather small, the shower room was disappointing: basin back-achingly low, nowhere to put things in the bathroom nor in the shower itself. The full cooked breakfast buffet when we had it was lukewarm and it bit dried out.
Overall, location and and the bar area and the staff make this a pleasant place but let down by a few things.

Room Tip: Get an upper room (2nd or 3rd floor) for views and quiet.
