“Fabulous time!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

From the moment of arrival at the Resolution Hotel the welcome was great. We had a very comfortable room with great views. Having lived in Whitby for 4 years we were there to visit friends. The Vault Bar was a new venue (to me...) and was great. The DJ Steve was fantastic with his Soul music and Lorraine (the barmaid) was wonderful too.

We ate at the Res on Saturday evening with friends and were impressed with the menu - we all had a burger of differing guises which was spot on and excellent value for money. We had a lovely cooked breakfast on Sunday and Monday morning and on Sunday we also had a roast - again great value and I think the nicest roast I have had for ages!

All round great stay and highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 306 which overlooked the town and station - perfect for me returning but some woul...

We have just stayed at the Resolution for 2 nights and from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Andy and his staff made every effort to make us feel at home. We had 4 rooms booked and each one came up to our expectations. The group on Saturday were really entertaining ,as was the Karaoke on Sunday.
The breakfast each morning was cooked really well and the variety good.

We will definitely be returning in the summer, if they'll have us back after our performance on the Karaoke!!

The Resolution is a strange place - a hotel, bar and restaurant that attempts to combine all elements but only manages to provide an adequate level of service for each. On arrival there was certainly a warm welcome but after this initially positive impression I never really felt impressed. The room was a decent size, clean and tidy. The heating was responsive (very useful for us, considering the temperature outside) and the shower was nice and powerful. However, the room as a whole was underwhelming - the decor bland and lacking a human touch. The breakfast area was based in what had been the bar/restaurant the previous night and did not feel homely or comfortable - a little stark and out of place if nothing else. On the first morning of our stay the self-serve breakfast had a limited choice, was cold and certain items were over-cooked. On the second morning breakfast was much improved, with a wider range of options and everything was hot. Unfortunately, we were not offered tea or coffee on the second day but aside from that I was fairly pleased. The hotel as a whole is a bit like the breakfast - hit and miss, hot and cold. I would recommend the Resolution if you literally just need somewhere to stay, but if you are looking for somewhere with more personality and a more homely feel I would advise you to look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are quieter and there is a lift should any of your party have trouble with st...

We had a one night stay at the resolution with our son, his friend and his parents, we went for the footy but it was cancelled due to waterlogged pitch. We made the best of it though and enjoyed a cracking weekend. The rooms were beautiful with a view of the sea to the left, the abbey ruins to the front and the harbour to the right. Stunning!. Staff so friendly and helpful and the food was quality but such value. Breakfast was well cooked and delicious. Went on KGB deal £49 a room with free wine plus £20 for Saturday night supplement. Highly reccomended. There was a band on and an 80's disco downstairs, so we got merry on the free (good) wine and danced the night away, will go again.

Room Tip: request top floor, views spectaular and lifts good.

Booked this stay on a KGB deal. Given a warm welcome on arrival . The room, although an unfurnished one, was clean and tidy. Very good location. Good breakfast each morning. The staff extremely friendly and couldn't do enough.

We paid £49 for one night B&B

Arrived early and was allowed to check in; check in was quick.

The hotel is in a very good location although trying to find parking was a pain because its in the centre; managed to park on a residential street and walked in.

The room was big and clean although the furniture looked dated. Clean towels and toiletries provided and the shower was hot and powerful.

Breakfast was buffet style; bacon, sausages, fried and scrambled eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, tomatoes and fried bread. Unfortunately we were both a little too delicate to enjoy it fully.

Check out was quick and easy.

We'd definitely stay here again; the location was perfect.
