“Lovely weekend”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Just got back from a three day stay at The Wheeldale and we found it to be clean, warm and welcoming. We found the owners and staff to be very friendly. The room was spotless and comfortable with a lovely sea view. With the weather being as shocking as it was, which was obviously no ones fault, the full Sky package in the room was a welcome bonus.
The full english breakfast was spot on and can't be faulted either. Our only complaint is the breakfast "window" of 8 til 9am, so a lie in is out of the question.
We would definitely stay there again, thank you for a lovely weekend.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 7 which is sea view.

Really good location on the promenade overlooking the ocean. We never scored a room with a view but our room was great. Good size, well maintained and very clean. Great TV and WiFi. Peter and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Parking is a squeeze but quite manageable. A bit of a walk into town but not too far. Breakfast is great. Liked the self service bar, coffee and snack system in the lounge downstairs. Nice friendly atmosphere at Wheeldale.

Room Tip: View is great so a room at the front would be really worthwhile

We have stopped at the Wheeldale for 8 years now for twice a year. This B&B is everything a good B&B should be. I feel like not recommending it we want it all to ourselves, but as there are 50 other weeks a year that others can stay there I have succumbed to highly recommending this great B & B. They have had an extension built with a jacuzzi in it also as an extra treat.

My wife and I spent a weekend at The Wheeldale. A very warm welcome and a very warm and comfortable room was what met us on a chilly September evening.
The hosts are very nice people and catered for all our needs. We stayed in a "superior" room at the cost of £120 per night. Although expensive the room was lovely. A big bathroom and a big bath with shower. All was spotless and the attention to detail was impressive. I would recommend the Wheeldale as the breakfast was also top quality.

Just had 3 nights at this hotel staying in room 6 which is split on 2 levels. The top level has lovely sea views and nice seating area with sky TV and tea coffee making facilities. Very spacious with 2 loos and bath and seperate shower room. It was nice not to have to sit on the bed to watch TV and not cramped. The bedroom was down a level with window over looking cricket field. It was more like having an apartment. Anyone with any mobility problems they could possibly find the stairs to the top level a problem as they are steep and narrow. Ashame about the weather but can't choose that. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and friendly staff. Car parking could be difficult in the busy season. We parked on the road to save getting blocked in. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will return if in Whitby again and would recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

Located in a premier position on the North Promenade of this picturesque little town, The Wheeldale (formerly called Daneholm) has been welcoming regular visitors (including this writer) for well over 50 years. Now efficiently run by Mr & Mrs Coleman, The Wheeldale offers guests comfortable B&B accommodation, has Wi-fi and is licensed. There is ample off-road parking, 12 comfortable en-suite rooms guaranteeing a good nights rest, and a hearty full English breakfast to get the day started.
Whitby has a considerable history centered around the fishing industry and offers a fascinating glimpse into the maritime past. The town is not car-friendly, but all the attractions are within easy walking distance.
A warm welcome is assured at The Wheeldale. It is a little gem.

Room Tip: Room #3 on the 1st floor has great sea views from the bay window.

We enjoyed a long weekend at Whitby and chose this hotel, a good location on the beach front with the hustle bustle of the town centre a short walk away, comfortable, tidy room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Some building work was on-going during our stay but it didn't cause any hindrance. Would definitely recommend and use again.
