I first visited the Abbey nearly 20 years ago, and going back I'm glad to say it is as magical as I remembered it to be. I love the link with Bram Stoker's Dracula and the mystique around the site and although there was quite a lot of visitors I managed to get some excellent pictures. The visit was made even more memorable by a heavy mist which had rolled in and clung around the top of the structure giving an amazing atmosphere. There was also a monk wandering around when we visited and whilst it was slightly irritating, easy enough to ignore. I also found the staff trying to sell a year's membership somewhat annoying but these are small things and easy to get around; if you do nothing else in Whitby you have to visit the Abbey.
