The tower cottage is perfectly located in the heart of Whitby just behind the magpie cafe and near the arcades with overnight parking a 5 minute walk away (payable extra) and free wifi throughout. John & Jean are on hand for any queries and always happy to help! The tower cottage is brilliant for short stays with 2 TVs and vhs tapes! Had I known this I would have brought some home videos to watch! There's is only a shower and it doesn't look very enticing but it's actually lovely and warm and steamy! Wouldn't recommend 4 adults stay here, but 2 adults and 2 kids/dog would be ideal!

“Great value, great location”

Positive:
If you're looking for a cheap, clean place to stay that is central to both the town and within a few minutes walk of the Pavilion - look no further. Clean cottage, dog friendly and friendly staff.
Drawbacks:
cottage is on four floors - each room on a different floor with narrow, turning stairs - might not be suitable for disabled or older people. Entry to second bedroom is through third with only a curtain for privacy - something to consider.
Overall:
Good value for money, great location and good views.

“Quirky little cottage”

Just loved this little place. It's cosy rather than luxurious, but with bags of character. You feel right at the heart of things being so close to the harbour - a temporary resident rather than just a visitor. The owner, Mr. Tingle was friendly and helpful - he was also a fount of knowledge about Whitby past and present. Of necessity, everything is very compact but well planned and executed. I specially liked the curved curtain rail in the main bedroom that provided the room user with privacy from those who were using the attic. I found the steep, winding staircase part of its charm, but can see that it may not suit everybody. The little bench in the tiny yard outside was a welcome touch. I would definitely consider staying here again.

“Compact and Bijou?”

This is a cottage of contrasts. Location is brilliant, just off the harbour; but this does mean some street noise and no local parking. A small cottage which is either cramped or cosy. The place is fine for two people but if you are wide or tall (or both) it could be a squeeze. I found the steep twisting staircase a problem. Each level has one room. The kitchen on the ground floor is small with a tiny shower room off. The plumbing takes some getting used too; I often nearly had an unexpected shower as the basin hot tap controls the shower! Furnishing is pre-loved, Oxfam chic or traditional. The attic room could do with attention as none of the futons or settee look good or are comfortable. Despite all this there were lots of positive comments from previous renters on the noticeboard. I might come again because of the location.
