Ideally situated with ample parking. Room in Hall was warm and comortable, needed a bit of a spruce up but clean and tidy with good bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly. Will stay again.

You may think this has rural setting, but is next to a main road. Room 2 is massive with the biggest fireplace you have seen.Food is ok but we expected a bigger choice. Car parking may be tight, but a overflow carpark at the top of the hill is availiable.Due to the building being old,at night you can enjoy the noise of traffic and drunken yobs going home as the period windows are a poor fit. Some may call this character, but we found it very annoying.

Room Tip: Choose your room carefully.

We read nice reviews about the breakfast but the evening meal was terrible and overpriced. The scallops were overcooked and were swimming in a brown sauce that looked disgusting and tasted of nothing. The pheasant was too tough to cut and eat for that matter and were served with a mish mash of vegetables. Nothing went together and it was a really bad meal. To make matters worse the waitresses then proceeded to set all the tables for dinner while there were two parties still eating this was very distracting! Such beautiful surroundings and beautiful building to were ruined with bad food. I suggest you go to the white horse and griffin for the beat food in town!

Booked through a third party and gor a really good deal. We were greated by a very friendly and helpful receptionist who even offered us one of her chocolates. We were in the lodge part of the hotel, basic but very clean, everything brand new. The hotel itself is very quaint and well kept. Didnt eat evening meal in the hotel but the breakfast was first class.

Was shown a room in the main hotel for future reference, very large with original features from the 1500s amazing fireplace.

If we were to return we would book into the main hotel just for the atmosphere alone.

Room Tip: Depends what you like and your budget, the Lodge cheaper but good value. Hotel more luxury but cost...

I bought a kgb deal for £39 for two people for one night with breakfast and we weren't disappointed. We had looked at this hotel in the past as somewhere to stay in Whitby and would definitely go again. It is very conveniently situated being only about a 5 minute walk to the harbour.

Although our room wasn't in the main old house, being about 100 mts up the hill in the Lodge, it was a very nice room and very clean. Plenty of parking space too which is a good thing. The old house is 15th century I believe and is full of character. It has a small bar and quite a large dining room but we chose to have our evening meal out. Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice of items. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. No complaints at all.

We stayed for 2 nights B & B in December in the Bagdale Lodge. A friendly welcome on arrival and our room was bright, clean, warm, spacious with plenty of storage space and tea making facilities. The en-suite bathroom was large, spotless with complimentary toiletries and a red hot towel rail. Breakfast was served down the hill in the main hotel restaurant, good choice of menu, promptly served, delicious and plentiful. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. We would be delighted to return if the same deal is available
