FC and I spent three nights at Bagdale Hall, we had a large room in the hall itself (room 2), very spacious.
Rooms are not cheap at £160 a night for B&B for 2 people. However we don't go on holiday to save money do we?
On our first night the restaurant was closed due to one of the chefs being ill. so as we had other places picked out to eat we never had the chance at the hall.
Breakfast was OK, nothing startling and the choice was not great, certainly a lot less than other places we have visited.
The room was very large, as it was on the first floor on a junction the traffic noise was noticable, comes with the old building though so not really a problem.
For the price of the room though I would have expected a flat screen TV and more than 5 channels, also cheap pine furniture in a period bedroom is a big no no for me.
Bathroom was fine with a powershower over the bath and hot water whenever needed.
Electrical problems meant we had no lights or fans in the bathroom on our last evening, but the management did fix it and sent us a nice bottle of wine in way of apology.
Liked the Hall and staff were really nice, think they should upgrade a little in sympathy with the rooms themselves and the prices charged.

Our stay at Bagdale was not planned so we were delighted to find large, comfortable rooms coupled with friendly service at the last minute! The main building maintains a historic feel, on a grey and cold Whitby day, albeit late June, this did not immediately appeal to us all (two couples)!

Our rooms came with solid four-poster beds that were extremely comfortable. if you are given a room that faces on to the main road, having your windows open is not an option, it is simply too noisy. Bathrooms are spacious with fabulous showers.

Breakfast was included in the price and was both varied and plentiful. We spent only a short time in the bar, as we were the only occupants we wanted a little more atmosphere!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing on to the main road.

We have stayed at the Bagdale quite a few times now and are planning to go back in August for a few days. Service is good, the resturant is very good and the breakfast is a must. The rooms in the Old Hall part of the hotel have four poster beds and the rooms appear alittle tired, but this adds to the feel of the Hall, the annexe has four posters aswell but not as much atmosphere, but are comfortable and well kept.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road (which is most of them) can be a little noisy in the older part of the buildin...

We stayed here for 1 night whilst at a friend's wedding in Whitby- was a struggle to find accomodation as it was Whitby Soul Weekend but managed to get a 4 poster room here.

Really lovely room and modern bathroom- really powerful shower- though watch as the power of it means that you can end up with minor bathroom flood. Really comfy bed too

Breakfast was of an excellent standard

Hotel location superb for centre of town and where we needed to go for the wedding. Car park was full but the receptionist told me where else to park that was next to the hotel.

Love Whitby and this hotel made stay a lot better

Room Tip: We had Room 6 which was a corner one which was good

Lets be honest, we are all underpaid and overworked but I really REALLY must say how great the staff was. We are seasoned travellers and we have stayed at some of the top hotels all around the world (we've even done Raffles and top flight cruises). The place is very atmospheric and reminds us of Hlodsworth Hall in Halifax but the staff ALWAYS makes a place and they were fantastic, very friendly and obviously working very hard yet making sure everyone felt attended to. The food was very good, wine was fantastic and the staff seemed simply genuine. All it takes is a little bit of appreciation and the right staff respond accordingly. If you want a cheap 'out of a can' stay in Whitby then go elsewhere. I really did rate this place and I want the staff to know that although some visitors may not appreciate the effort they want to ensure they keep the standards up for the ones who do!

Room Tip: We were in room four - there were bigger (booked up when we booked) but it was great.
