Right next to the small bus station and the co-op, surrounded by small cobbled streets of shops, cafes etc. Very picturesque on a lovely sunny day. Busy when we visited, will return for a look at the lighthouse, castle etc.

Went with family for the day. Parked in the Park and Ride, brilliant, and only 5 to 10 mins into town. Busy as usual, but still able to walk round. Fish and chips from Quayside chippy, very nice. Walk down onto the beach. Really lovely day out

The harbour looks great at high tide but even at low tide. The visitor boats are great fun , we had the best of the sunshine and flat seas and our choice of vessel this time was the old life boat which is the onboard side of the swing bridge....at only £3 and real characters for the crew and shoreside team....it’s well worth it.

We tried the Gallion in previous years still great fun.....

We love meandering around the harbour and river.....have fun exploring and don’t forget to ask the local people...they are warm and welcoming and always give good advice .

Walking along the harbour, there is plenty that one can do - visit a cafe, grab an ice cream, go to the amusements, browse one of the shops...
However, if you're not inclined to do so, it's still wonderful to just stop and observe the Esk and its surroundings. 'Buzzing' would be the word I'd use, as there is so much activity, but in an energising way rather than a daunting way.

We had a great time in Whitby a larger harbour than we first thought very active in fishing, Its a delight to walk round so much to see with its quaint harbour and very narrow streets , a bit steep for some walkers but lots to see. afterwards relax in one of many of Whitby Fish and chip shops and enjoy fresh and chips before you go home.
