As the title says this is a working harbour so at times there is a lot of activity, at others it's quiet. Without doubt more attractive in warmer times.

Lovely. It was a v windy day. Even better.
Gorgeous harbour walls and lighthouses.
Proper seaside town with a real feel of fisherman life and history about it.

our first sight of the harbour was early evening when we watched a huge murmuration of starlings. The area is full of small interesting shops and places to eat. The people are very welcoming. Not the place to go if you are dog phobic but brilliant if you like dog watching. Lots of interesting alleys and fishing activity.

I love Whitby and the harbour area is big enough to be interesting and small enough to feel cosy. Lots of interesting shops, great places to eat and drink as well as the traditional types of things you expect to find at the seaside.
