Me and my mate stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate New Years Eve. We checked in on the sat and was welcomed with fresh coffee and homemade chocolate cookies. We had the attic room which had a double and a single bed and small but sufficient ensuite bathroom. They have a special breakfast every day such as kippers and poached eggs, or pancakes otherwise you can order from the menu which is very varied. From full english to scrambled eggs on toast. It is nicely situated not far from the shops and bars and free parking on the street. Would recommend a stay here.

My girlfriend and i were celebrating being together for a year,so wanted somewhere to go for the weekend.we had looked I'n to a few different places however Whitby and the coast seemed to be a mutual preference.there's just something about Whitby.
Following a day out with the children we started trying to find somewhere to stay around 17:30 on the night we planned on staying. After a couple of phone calls to various hotels and b&bs it became apparent that it wasn't going to be easy to get a place to stay,it was 60's weekend!! Very busy!!
Frantic searches began, we were, at one point just going to turn up at Whitby and just go door knocking and find a place to stay.fun I'n theory but that would have left us sleeping I'n the car.
So we saw The Argyle on trip advisor and all looked well, reasonably priced,we looked up the number and got on the phone expecting another "were fully booked" call.
I was greeted with a confident vacancy and i took a sigh of relief.we booked it straight away and we were out of the door and on our way I'n minutes.
Arriving at The Argyle we were met by a surprised owner Bill, suprised we got there so soon.We were informed of breakfast times shown to our room.We were very happy we got the attic room, well presented, plenty of room, nice and warm,(it was a cold day)a very good selection of DVDs to watch on the wall mounted flat screen tv.
After having a few drinks I'n our very comfortable room we sampled the delights of Whitby by night.Enjoyable if not a bit hazy!!
The following morning feeling slighty rough we headed down for breakfast i think i managed to drink all of the fresh orange myself everything that you would expect was on offer we both really enjoyed the fry up and i was offered more toast than was given to start with which was a nice supprise.one minor downside was the half hour window for breakfast,08:30-09:00 no good if your not a morning person.
All I'n all we enjoyed our stay, presented well polite and friendly owners, good location, great breakfast and kicking back and watching a DVD I'n bed after your morning scran is great.
We were a little late leaving the room too however this didn't seem to be a problem.thanks again Bill & Mel

Argyle House is in a quiet street but only a few minutes walk to West Cliff beach and the Pavillion. Turn right when you leave the house and right again at the bottom of the street and you have plenty of cafes, pubs, shops, restaurants plus a newsagent. Five to ten minutes walk to main area of Whitby. We had a small double room but the size was reflected in the price, and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and a great shower in the en-suite.. The breakfast was excellent, the best bacon I have ever tasted, with plenty of choice and great ,friendly service. Bill & Mel are great hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We will definately stay again

Immediately when we arrived we were told our room was not ready, however we arrived very early! Bill immediately offered to keep our bags safe while we went for a walk to pass the time until our room was ready. He was very friendly and catering from the start.

Our room was perfect, very clean and our hospitality tray was always full. And luckily for us we were given a more expensive room for a lower price due to the room we wanted had already been booked, brilliant service yet again.

As for the breakfasts, we always received what we wanted and there was ample food to be eaten. The people who served us every morning were always very polite and friendly.

Over all there is nothing bad to say about Argyle house, we were in the centre of Whitby, exactly where we wanted to be, the service was great, Bill and Mel were welcoming and we most definitely will be staying here again.

We had a couple of nights in Argyle House as we were in Whitby for a wedding. We booked a small room but i must say it was spotless and had everything we needed. Bill and the staff were very welcoming and couldn't do more for us. Breakfast was lovely and had plenty if options if we didn't want a full English. We had a very enjoyable stay and i thoroughly recommend it. Thankyou.
