What a beautiful cottage best we have been in everything you need from pizza cutter to a washing machine and dishwasher very central for shops and pubs our granddaughters loved the big blackboard in the kitchen hours of playing school even us grown ups with hangman and noughts +crosses booked for next year too highly recommend
Terry and Annabelle's cottage is spacious and warm, perfect for our near yearly trip to Whitby. Well equipped for a family or group of friends. It's a very short stroll to the town centre. The exposed ceiling joists and expressed chimney brickwork are a delight! Highly recommended.
Almost right in the centre of town, the cottage was a very convenient base to explore Whitby from. Kitchen was well-equipped, and there were more rooms than I could comprehend; plenty for kids or a larger group of adults. Well-decorated and felt very homely throughout our stay.
Be sure to make use of the large collection of holiday reading when you visit the beach, which is a very short walk.
Great location within Whitby, close to local amenities and easily reached from the train station. Had a lovely time exploring the local town and countryside with this place as a hub. Very reasonably priced. Would go again.
Been visiting every year just before Christmas for the last 4 years. Great location on the west side of the crossing. More than enough space for our party of 8 with well equipped kitchen and dining area. Only a couple of minutes walk from the station, pubs and beach. Recommend Trenchers round the corner for the best fish and chips in town. Will be back next year!
A lovely period cottage squashed in among others near the river and the steam trains. Access is by worn steps and a narrow alley but it is spacious and well equipped. We had a good time here.
The Anchorage was ideally situated to visit local places in Whitby, being a short walk from everything we needed. While I appreciate that we stayed there during a very busy week, parking was a nightmare and involved much juggling from space to space. The house itself was rather tired and dated and the kitchen cupboards and trays in the oven not as clean as they could have been.
We had a comfortable stay there but the downstairs rooms contained a lot of furniture which made it feel very crowded, especially with 6 adults, 2 children and a toddler. Fortunately we took our own black out blinds because the curtains were thin and did not block out the light, although I appreciate that this is not a problem for many people. The description of the house did not emphasise the potential dangers of all the stairs but again we had taken our own safety gates which really were a necessity and perhaps ought to be provided if young families visit. The house was otherwise well equipped.
I think this would be a great location for a week away with groups of friends but is not ideal for young children.
One real hazzard I would like to point out is the entrance to the downstairs toilet which is accessed via 3 stone steps- the door to this toilet does not have a lock on the outside and our two year old leaned against the door and tumbled backwards down the steps, somehow miraculously escaping serious injury.
