Lovely views from the beach, perfect if you just to chill out and relax with friends and family or play games like tennis.

Yes below the West Cliff is the nice long beach with decent sand and donkeys and all that. Cafes are at the Whitby end not much further out unless you go on the cliff to. Nice for a paddle. Clean too.

The United Kingdom's beaches can never compare to a wonderful Filipino white sand beach an hour from Manila by plane, but nontheless by British standards, Whitby's beach is wide, sandy (a very, very light gray) and safe for swimming (although at 0800 on a close to peak summer Sunday, there was only one jogger and no swimmers.

A cafe is nearby offering cold 9but not hot) food and non alcoholic drinks while the seaside promenade full of four storey B & Bs overlooks the beach from above.

Ramps and stairs lead from the promenade to the beach.

Worth a gander despite its unattractive looking pier.

Always like a walk on the beach when in Whitby whatever the season as its different lighting adds to the charm. Never overcrowded and just love to dip our toes in the sea. The beach is. Ice and clean and inviting to go on go for a stroll.

We started off from Whitby and made out way, along the beach, to Sandsend. The beach is clean, the sea very cold and the streams running in feel pleasantly warm. Lovely beachside cafe in Sandsend at the end of the walk. Watch the tides and you will have a lovely time
