A spur of the moment decision to pop in. We both had the crab stuffed aubergine starter and the roast cod on tomato risotto. Despite being a purist regarding risotto as a side dish, the food was fantastic and very tasty. My tart tatin was beautifully presented though rather thinner than I am accustomed to. However, all forgiven with the flavour. My wife had a delicious array of ice creams. The liquorice was stunning.

Very good value for money including the tip which was well earned.

Thank you for a very good meal.

Had an amazing meal at the White Horse And Griffin. We had the fillet steak platter and it was cooked to perfection. Delicious! Highly recommended.

Four of us had a meal here on Saturday night and it was that good we went back for Sunday dinner - all the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The service was excellent .Thanks for the Gluten free meals.

Having lived here for 10 years now it's surprising that we have never eaten here before. Well, there's always a first time! First the good news: the White Horse and Griffin use excellent quality, locally sourced food and the steaks were all very, very good. The staff were great-very friendly and efficient. So, what's the problem? The vegetables, although plentiful and al dente were bland, under seasoned and tasteless (including the fat chips which were not cooked in enough oil and again were unseasoned). The steaks, although of good quality were also unseasoned-but the sauces that came with them were fine. Desserts were fairly unremarkable. It wasn't cheap either! I think in future we will stick with The Magpie-you get everything there and much, much more for a fraction of the price and excellent quality!

We took our grandchildren here for an early evening meal. The restaurant is atmospheric and full of rather unusual artefacts that lend themselves to "I Spy" as the children waited for their fish and chips. The food delighted the children (all of whom cleared their plates in spite of huge portions) and adults. The service was warm and helpful. The bill was less than I expected. Unfortunately we were all to full too try the deserts, which sounded lovely.
