Wonderful little museum, a smaller version of the Pitt Rivers in Oxford, a treasure trove for children.

Entry £5 per adult and free for children. Staff very happy to give you information. Beautiful fossils including a full crocodile. I enjoyed the variety of items on display, I found some kitchen equipments I had never seen before and I love the jet collection from Whitby. Really and truly beautiful pieces which must be admired. It has enough to interest young and old. It reminds me a little bit of the Horniman museum in London with those Victorian glass panels and boxes, stuffed animals . SO much to see but one can choose what to explore - The museum is fairly small on 3 levels but lift available for disabled.
To our delight, there was a special exhibition about a Princess with her jewelleries. The video shows where the burial ground was discovered and the re-constitution of the burial scenes makes it more lively and clear so children and adults who are not specialists in archeology may find it more interesting and more appreciative of the exhibits.
